What the fuck??

I got served better food as a Marine Infantryman at Camp Horno, and we literally got the worst food the military could offer.
>>
>>32869420
What was your favorite meal?
>>
>>32869438
Sergeant named it tasty stick

Breakfast was OK.

Unlimited milk. You could get an omelette to order with meats and veggies. The bombest was the breakfast burritos. The black guy working the line liked me and hooked it up with sausage and chorizo.

Lunch/dinner was no thanks. Rather microwave a hot pocket from the PX.
>>
Chilli Mac with crunched up crackers, hot sauce, using two mre heaters

Also the infamous "Box C", which contained a burger with real Heinz ketchup packets.. I've only ever saw that golden ticket once and boy was it glorious.

As far as actuall meals, the best food is at whatever POG chow hall is on base (the largest one usually).
>>
>>32869387

I've had a tastier-looking meal than that in a rural Georgia jail. Dear lord.
>>
>>32869387
Chicken cordon bleu is by far my favorite stateside chow hall food. On my secon deployment to Iraq our FOB had very little but our chow hall was the best I ever ate at.
>>
>>32869507
We sometimes get boxes with [Not for Human Consumption] written on them.
>>
>>32869387
frozen spam if you're hungry enough.
>>
>>32869552
Nothing beat the chow hall at al asad. I was only there for a week tho. They had a taco bar. A fucking taco bar!
>>
>>32869585
Sounds kinda like what they had at Pensacola.
>>
>>32869585
Haha let me guess, transient going to/coming from mid tour? That one was pretty good. I ate at a chow hall in Baghdad that was near Al Faw Palace that was amazing, they had a wing bar and a taco bar. My second trip the first half was Sykes and that chow hall was better quality wise than the one in Baghdad. Hot sandwiches every day and surf in turf Fridy's with some amazing baked mac and cheese. Mosul was pretty good too. Bucca was garbage.
>>
>>32869681
IIRC the one by Al Faw was called the Coalition DFAC and was massive.
>>
>>32869387
Do officers get better food?
>>
>>32869681
Yep, you got it. Now that I recall I was there 2 weeks, coming and going during my Iraq deployment. I just remember the food was delicious, they must of figured shit sucks, we should at least feed them OK.

Also Army Chow halls were pretty good overseas too. We'd hit them up during convoys sometimes.
>>
>>32869715
Nope. They get the same shit, just their own little seating area.

Or better pay to go buy their own.
>>
>>32869756
So even generals get that shit?
>>
>>32869774

Generals get

>better pay to buy their own

Like just about any other high-powered executive be it in the public or private sector, they go out for every meal because business breakfast/lunches/dinners are basically informal meetings.
>>
>>32869797

To kind of elaborate I'd be extremely, massively shocked if generals and other high officers don't have an expense account they charge their meals to when they're not at home. I work for the government and my low-level manager boss has this
>>
>>32869774
Now I'm imagining Mattis eating an MRE at his desk for some reason.
>>
>>32869774
Yep. I got thrown out of a chow hall in TQ by a 2 star General because he said my cammies were too dirty. In fucking Iraq of all places when I'd been outside the wire for over a week.

It's the military, they eat what their men eat. They find other ways to be dicks, like kicking Lance corporals out of chow halls.

Btw we went outside and smoked, waited for him to leave. Then when we went back in the girls working said he was a douchebag and gave us extra food and desserts.
>>
>>32869597
>>32869597
Well shit, I'm from Pensacola. Where you at?
>>
I got this my first day at Ft. Polk. I was there for a JRTC rotation. The cake tried to warn me.
>>
>>32869797
Who is allowed to buy their own though? Can officers just leave the base whenever they want or order in whatever they want?

>>32869840
Could have just said that was part of the camouflage?
Or do you get massive shit for sarcasm?
>>
>>32869915
To a 2 star? You say nothing but "Aye, sir"
>>
>>32869926
Shame, must be great being a general though

Meh, they never cook them right. always cold in the middle.

I usually don't eat at the galley when i'm home but underway it's usually some form of goulash with a side of bread and mixed vegetables. On good days we eat dry chicken or pork loin with a side of bread and mixed vegetables. We get mixed salads for around a week then it's all brown after that and they switch to noodle, potato, or tuna salads. Lots of potato based stuff too. Every once in awhile we get freezer burned steak over cooked or dangerously under cooked.

I also don't take photos of my food like a fucking weirdo.
>>
>>32869420
Horno chowhall is actually a lot better than it used to be.
>>
>>32870323

Best fucking days. It's the one thing that makes Crowborough camp bearable.
>>
>>32873035

Have you ever visited the Chappo chow hall? Those POGs have it made.
>>

Tasted just as good the second time around.

What do you know about ankle breaker hill?

Not being confrontational, consider it a quiz.

>>32873035

I don't believe you homey. I feed my fucking dog better.

>the ankle breaker

More silver bullets have been used there then Van Helsing fighting off a wave of werewolves.

I always thought big tears and little tears were worse.
