Thoughts on the Rhino? Finally go to shoot one, was pleasantly surprised at how different it was. And those cyberpunk aesthetics.
>>
SEAM!!!
>>
>>32866721
They should do a better job hiding it.
>>
I prefer non-toasted fingers, I'll pass on the Rhino.
>>
>>32866694
Pros:
>Lower bore axis really works-muzzle flip is reduced, great for rapid fire
>Trigger pull is pretty good
>7075 Aluminum frame means a light gun for its size
>Multpile calibres
>A S T H E T I C S
Cons:
>Lower bore axis may singe your hand unless held correctly
>Kinda pricey
>That fucking seam
>You may get a lot of "huurrr nice anime gun why not just get a regular revolver, weeb?" comments
>>
My cousin bought a 40DS, and whipping it out at the range got us some vicious turbo-hatefuck-stink eye from the traditionalist Fudd pair there. One asked about it as we were packing up and gave it a scathing salty old man opinion rant when we left him hold it.

So +1 to it just for that.
>>

looks like something Vash would weld, I bet it's expensive too

Very comfortable to shoot.

medium quality for a high price though, and the seam is hideous.

Bought one 40ds last month for $920, came with a 9mm cylinder. Keep in mind, newer models come with fiver optic front and rear sights, if it doesn't, don't get it, might be a earlier problem model. The gun itself is perfect to me. First revolver, shooting .38s is like .22. It's become my new carry gun. I would wholeheartedly recommend getting one, just beware: Chiappa are absolute CUNTS in customer service. Don't rely on them. Good gun, but if you have problems, chiappa tends to dick people arouns.
>>
>>32868941
941 here, also: finish is not up to par for such an awesome/expensive gun. You can see in my pick bare metal shows in places.

>>
>>32866694
As someone who owns one, the trigger is smooth and it's a fun gun, BUT you have to deal with Chiappa, you have pretty much 0 chance of fixing it if anything goes wrong and cocking it to get to SA is absolute shit. Beware the cost and try to get it at $700 or less
>>
>>32869576
>cocking it to get to SA is absolute shit
Do you have a first gen? Mine is pleasant.
>>
>>32869607
No it's just the hammer, the hammer is low profile so it doesn't stick out. Compared to a traditional revolver it's an absolute nightmare to get cocking. Personally I think they could have solved it by edging out the hammer so it sticks a bit more, but it kills the slim line profile.
>>
>>32869639
I can see what you mean, but I've never had that problem nor has anyone else I let shoot it. I usually cock and shoot it one handed as well.

The only conclusion I can draw is you have gigantic mutant hands and/or are a crab person.

Loses timing too fast, barrel isn't quite as good as it should be for its price but is certainly not bad. Big thing is the Taurus-tier timing.

I disagree about the rail, it would look 9000% better without it.

>>
>>32870513
I like rhinos (less after someone pointed out the seam), but this is plain ugly. The finish seems to be darker on the barrel piece of the frame, and the top rail makes the seam extra conspicuous.

>>32866721
>>32866775
Fuck. I just realized why the seam exists. It's cheaper for them to mill the standard frame piece on one set of machines for all barrel lengths. The seam allows them to slap a barrel of whatever length onto the standard frame piece, instead of retooling the production line for different one-piece frames for different barrel lengths or needing an extra machine per barrel length.

Own one of the 50DS models, black just like the one in OP picture. Recoils nicely in a straight back fashion, similar to a semi-auto and not with a flip-up like most revolvers.

Picked mine up in .357 and couldn't be happier. Can't find a Mateba Unica, so, next best thing.

That said, it comes with me on every range trip.
>>
>>32866694
I want one in .44 mag or .454 casull.
With how much recoil is reduced it would be perfect for the larger calibers.

I regularly check GB for Mateba because I kind of want to start collecting them and saw that exact listing with that exact picture.

I must have gotten lucky as fuck because ever since buying mine, I've seen (imo) inferior ones go for like $4000-$5000. Random things like a broken handle or timing off or nothing else but the gun itself.

The one I got my hands on is probably the best I've seen on that site. Just grabbed the receipt from my drawer so I can bring some details. Got it summer 2015 for about $3200 after FFL fee and stuff. Came with a compensator, and a thread protector you put in if you don't have a compensator. Looking at the back of the cylinder, it seems to have great timing. I can attest it fires just fine as well.

People seem to pay an arm and a leg for a meatball that's not as good as mine apparently...

Not now. Mateba went under in 2005.

There are rumors of a possibility that their patents could be sold off soon and replicas or new versions of their pistols will be produced in the next few years, but it's a gamble. Even if that will probably drive down the value of my original Mateba, I'd still be okay with that and buy a new autorevolver and/or 2006M

Well if you look into your soul you'll see that the 6 Unica has a whole rail system that makes it amazingly unique.

First shot you are in double action mode. This means as you pull the trigger with a heavy action, while all following shots are in single action mode thanks to the unique slide functionality on this revolver. It isn't even about looks to me. It's about pure engineering genius.

Pic related is worth a watch even though it isn't me.

Yeah it is. The slide goes back straight and cocks the hammer, but on the forward stroke it rotates the cylinder so basically as fast as it takes for any other random pistol with a slide, it does all this shit for you and makes the next round ready to fire. As an aside since we're talking about this fine firearm, in my experience it's pretty crazy to experience firing this thing for the first time. You can watch videos and learn all about it and think you know what to expect, but it's pretty cool to experience it for the first time. That double action trigger pull is pretty heavy, and when you finally squeeze off that first round and think "okay, I'll aim for the same spot" and go to fire the second shot and it's light as a feather it's pretty great.

Oh, and remember to keep your fingers away from the bottom of the cylinder or RIP fingers.
>>
I don't like how the butt of the grip is cut at an angle. But I really like the lower bore axis, and while it's a bit more complicated of a mechanism as a regular wheelgun, it's probably less troublesome than the Meatball.

They should really make an 8 shot version though. I just feel that if I could get an 8 shot S&W for a similar price, or an auto in 10mm, or something like pic related in .44 mag, my mind doubts that the different looks and the low bore axis makes it cool enough to want to keep in my collection.
