So, I have technically been a gun owner for a long time, but only recently started really trying to build a collection. This isn't about the guns but the ammo. I have been trying to stock up and really like the Perfecta shit from Walmart.Yes, I know it's just range ammo but it's better than nothing when on a budget. Anyone else like this stuff? It's super cheap and I have been trying to build a base stockpile. Here are the numbers so far.

>700 rounds of .223
>416 rounds of 9mm
>330 rounds of .40 S&W
>274 rounds of .38 special
>27 rounds of .357 magnum

Basically I have over 2000 rounds of assorted ammo for my weapons. Buying some here and some there over time. Haven't had the spare cash all at once for a bulk buy. Anyway, how am I doing /k/?
>>
>>32863004
Typo. Over 1000 rounds.
>>
>>32863004
Not ready for the apocalypse, but pretty good start.
>>
>>32863004
If it goes bang everytime that's all that matters. Keep building!
>>
>>32863004
Is Monarch 5.56 ammo worth it for plinking or poorfag stockpiling? It's cheap, but it's steel with a coating and I've only ever fed my MP Sport II AR brass cuz I hear it's best. Plus, I've heard mixed things about its accuracy and performance.
>>
>>32863004
it would behoove you to buy in cases at one time. for example, 1k of .223 is around $300 shipped.
>>
I also pick up as much perfecta as I can every time im in a walmart; I only have a need for 9mm, 357, and 22lr though. Hard to beat the price of perfect for brass cased ammo, keep on stockpiling komrade
>>
>>32863004
Not bad, if you dont mind factory reloads just for plinking you can regularly pick up 500 rounds of 9mm for about 80$

You're getting there! Even though I almost exclusively shoot handguns, I load heavy on the long gun ammo side, my reasoning is if I need more handgun ammo life is going to be going on as mostly normal, if I direly need rifle ammo on the other hand...

>numbers
2k .223
2k 7.62x39
1.5k 40S&W
2k 9mm (I basically only shoot this so it fluctuates)
250ish 5.7x28 target shit

And around 300 defensive JHPs split between 9 and 40

Perfecta .45 is all I ever shoot any more.

$14.50 (-10% employee discount) for 50 rounds all brass? yes please.

I have never had any defects. Though being a relative poorfag. i have only ran about 600 rounds so far.

30 cents a round for brass 45acp is brettygud dude

I'm >>32863825 and I generally pay around 21-22 cents for factory brass 115 grn 9x19
>>
I'm in the same boat, OP. My goal is to have a .50cal spam can full of each caliber I need as a small stockpile. It's not much, but probably the extent of what I could move if I had to go quickly.
>>
>>32863888
About 27-28 cents after tax.
>>
I like to have 3 mags per gun and enough ammo to fill those mags.

So for example, if I have a Glock 19, then I would want at least 45 rounds on hand so that I could load all 3 mags and then go do whatever if I had something to do which I don't.

Otherwise, it's nice to have a little more so that I can load my mags up for a range trip or if the ammo is on sale I'll buy enough for a couple range trips ahead.

The only ammo I've "stockpiled" is reloads and that's because of the nature of reloading.
>>
>>32863825

I've only shot it on bright days, never noticed a pronounced muzzle flash, I rarely take it out (hence the round count) it's more of a conversation piece.

Sometimes I think about getting some of that newfangled loads that actually meet the FBI standards with denim and also kevlar...But then I remember that terrible terrible safety position.

Just google "Bulk Ammo" and find a reputable site.

I'd give you a link, but I've gotta protect my sources from the Fudds.
>>
>>32863004

5 mags of 5.56
7 mags of 7.62
50 rounds of 54r
40 rounds of .45
2 mags of .45 - 230g winchester ranger
50 rounds of slugs/buck

> Having a stockpile is fine.
> But having 3.5k rounds on hand is like "Why?"
I understand if you live in mountainous Montana, or pop rounds off ur back deck daily, or range trip every weekend.
But for "Hurrr durr apokalopsio" its dumb. and your wrong if you think its not.

What you SHOULD do...
>Have a decent amount of rounds on hand; enough for prolonged defense of property
>Instead of having 1000 rounds of .223, use that $ for another rifle/ pistol whatever
why ?
>So you can arm your friends , pick up their slack if they dont own gun or shitty guns. in a true time of need... will be like jesus handing out assault rifles.
Any day of the week id rather have a friend with a gun then a extra 200 loose rounds.
>>
>>32864869

>I don't know anon, this sounds like a really bad idea

You can pull it off rather consistently, assuming you're not buying hard to find ammo. Stuff that gets clogged in a sea of 20+ pages can often guarantee you'll be the only one bidding on it. I had to end up resorting to it because local stores were highway robbery. My closest gun store intentionally overprices 22LR at 12 cents per round for generic Winchester white box for example.

I just wish it was like in the old days where people practically begged you to take their Mosin/Mauser surplus ammo from them.

I like your style bro, apparently though the NRA snap caps are way cheaper? Just figured that out today.
>>
>>32864892

You should definitely stock up when you can find ammo at a really cheap price, because unless you're really hurting for cash, it'll save you money in the long run.
>>
>>32864892

So you can arm your friends , pick up their slack if they dont own gun or shitty guns. in a true time of need... will be like jesus handing out assault rifles.
>This

Seriously, if you build it yourself.. ive gotten a barebones working AR build for like 350-400$.. Sure its not TOP TIER OMG. But it works, and its more bullets going in THAT direction. So ive made like 5 of them over a year in case i ever have to drop that box on the ground and say lets go fools
>>
>>32864900
All the gun stores near me do the same crap. Best one is 30% more than online prices. Some stores I've literally laughed and noped out the door.

>PPU .38 for $20 a box "Anon this is a bulk deal!"
>Magtech for $24 a box at the range
>Ultramax for $36 a box at some Fudd's store
>>
>>32864927
Definitely, who doesn't check their bots daily but IMO
Guns > bullets. theres a fine balance between the two.
I just know too many people who have like 3k .223 / 5.56 rounds on hand only own 2 -3 mags and a single AR.
its like; branch the fuck out, you dont NEED that many rounds. Buy other cool shit. But imma definitely come over and steal a few hundo rounds form you bro
>>
>>32864892
>prepping

Please, stop being a herp derp.
>>
>>32864869
If you can find me brass .45s for significantly less than 27 cents a shot shipped. I'll give you a hand job.
>>
>>32864976
Dood, Everyone should be prepped.. At any moment this pot that is the world could boil over. period. it can happen.
Also i could be hit by a tornado tommarow, or a massive power outage..

If you DONT have a at least 3 months food and water, generator, back up car batteries, torches, blankets, 2x4's , nails and plywood.. why do you even OWN a house then ?
and if you wana get crazy, get a few solar panels, a little plot of land designed for growing food, and stabilized gas.

there is nothing wrong with being prepared for everything from a niggout to a terrilbe storm, it is your job as a provider to your family to at least have some sort of backup plan.

~250 30-06 target rounds, mostly American Eagle stuff
~200 12 gauge, all shell lengths
~75 9mm 115 gr gold dots for my ccw, all I currently bother to have for it.

Even 10 years ago, sks rifles weren't exactly cheap.
But I could have got a crate of nuggets instead of spending 2 grand on ammo that's been sitting just as many years.
Both would have doubled or better in value either way. All that 10c/r before shipping 7n6 545 I bought is looking pretty smart now.
