bump , i guess everyone is working...

this was a gay rule

it was basically

"if you are a neet you cant have guns"
>>

It's a step in the right direction

A nice start, but get on the suppressors.

Baby steps, my man.
>>
>>32860946
Wouldn't have effected me in any way, but good to hear anyway.

Really, that was just a way to adjudicate people mentally defective without due process.
>>
>>32860946
Damn, I thought this was about background checks in general.
>>
>>32861101
I'm gonna side with Obama on this one.
>>
>>32861407
SHALL
>>
>>32860946
Now they need to do the same thing for those under the VA
>>
>>32861407
It's not just that though. It's stripping someone's rights without having them adjudicated and giving them due process. If you want to screen recipients and give them a trial where they're declared unable to have guns by a judge that has sufficient evidence, that's a different story, but just going "no you can't have any because I say so" is a violation of due process.
>>
>>32861407
NOT
>>
>>32861407
Same. Freaks don't need to own guns.
>>
>>32861440
yeah, and there are provisions for that in law already, without this.
>>
>>32861436
Good point. I would say if you have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder or schizophrenia and shit like that you should be put on the no go list.

Was this law supposed to keep people with dementia from buying guns? That doesn't sound like such a terrible idea to me. Am I missing something?
>>
>>32861456
lolnope. only those people who have demonstrated that they are a danger to themselves or others should be on the no go list
>>
>>32861456
Why.

The mentally ill, including people with bi-polar disorder and schizophrenia are less violent than normal people.

Very rarely do schizophrenics get violent, and most bi-polar people are actually fairly normal unless they are manic depressive. In which case, they can be medicated and are usually pretty normal.

HAHA, I can keep my Autism bux and continue to buy guns with it.
>>
Thank god! I hate how the media portrays everyone with a mental illness as someone that is going to go off on a rampage at any second. The vast majority of violence, including gun violence, are people with a criminal record, not a history of violence. In fact, people with a mental illness are more likely to be a victim of a crime than people without a mental illness. As someone that sought mental health care when I was a teenager and had to go through an ungodly amount of legal bullshit to get my gun rights restore, all I can say is fuck that shit.

>>
>>32861481
There are basically no gun crimes committed by people receiving disability with a representative payee. It's a non-issue.
>>
>>32861481
It covered anyone who received social security and had someone else handle their payments. From Grandad who never really learned the computers to Impusle-buy Jim down the street whose wife handles the family finances.

>>
>>32861539
Nah, There were 5 requirements:
1) applied for SSDB
2) received SSDB
3) received SSDB for a mental disorder
4) is over 18 and under retirement age.
4) has an assigned representative payee (this is something assigned by the state in most cases, not your wife)
>>
>>32861086
>>32861086
You should take this as an insight to see how probable it is that those things will become reality
It means if something like this could happen, then hpa or NFA repeal could possibly happen too, given the Republicans don't cuck out at the last minute like they usually do
And tbhhh I was skeptical about all this from the start but this gives me hope

>>
>>32861456
The simple fact that someone has a diagnosis of a certain mental illness does not speak to the facts of whether or not they are capable of owning and operating firearms legally and safely.

Even Australian firearms laws recognise this, all you need is your supervising doctor to sign off on it, which at least in my case they're happy to do.

You're literally dumber than Australian gun laws. Let that sink in for a second.
>>
>>32860946
So, if I am an illegal alien I can buy guns now? Neat.
>>
>>32861447
Clearly we need more provisions because /r9k/ keeps finding ways to get armed.

Mental illness is a term that encompasses an awful lot of disorders with varying degrees. You can't deny that most mass shooters suffered from a mental illness. Granted, those make up a tiny fraction of gun crime. My point is, most people with a mental illness are benign, but some are fine until they fucking snap.

was thinking about this earlier, wouldn't be ironically in our best interest to have a republican congress pass a background check law before a future liberal passes their own with bonus extremly strict restrictions as well?
>>
Trump and the Republican congress could repeal every single gun law at the federal level. Just leave gun laws to the states. Yes, that doesn't help California but you gun owners there really need to hold rallies and protests and fight for your rights.

I can understand for Schitzo, but disability is a wide camp and it ends up encouraging people not to seek help if you're going to punish them for it.

t. can't join military and not sure if security clearances will be denied to me because I am on SSRI.

Like I said in an earlier topic on this

>Guis we need to destigmatize mental health and make people understand that if they need help they should seek it out and not be ashamed of it
>btw we need to ban them from ever having any kind of meaningful position or job in the federal government

So what now?
The senate has to sign?
Trump's next?

I got denied my FOID application because It hadn't been a full 5 years since my hospitalization (like 4 years and 4 months).

It gives me a field where I can make an appeal. Can I just be like "due to (name of repeal) I am now under legal grounds for firearm ownership. As a citizen of no criminal background, I represent no harm to myself or my community. With this testament, I request my application be reconsidered for validity. Let muh freedum ring."

No, states shouldn't get to pick and choose which right they can alienate on.

I mean, I agree, but if that's CTR they're at least sounding moderately reasonable. I'm more okay with the Evangelicals than liberals, but they have kind of fucked up the perceptions of "Constitutionalists and gun owners" and lumped us in with shit we don't care about.
