I'm looking at buying an SKS from my local gunshop. No, I've never bought a gun before, and no, I don't own any guns. However, I am no stranger to them, having grown up with them all my life.

The SKS in question is a Romanian model, and all serial numbers are matching (according to the dude behind the counter last I spoke with him). Because it's all matching numbers, the price is a bit higher than what I've normally seen for an SKS, which I'm willing to accept. I want to say it was around $600 USD, but I could be wrong. It's been a while since I've had an opportunity to visit. However, my main concern is that it's missing the bayonet.
If I were to buy this SKS (irregardless of how overpriced it may or may not be; this is all hypothetical) could I purchase a replacement bayonet for the thing?

You can easily pick them up for $300. Don't worry about matching numbers. I am assuming you want to shoot this fucker a lot, take it innawoods, hunt with it, and do any other number of things that an SKS can do. Just get a solid SKS with a folding bayonet. Tell your gunstore that you aren't interested, and look on gunbroker.
