I just bought a Vepr 54r. I know nothing about cleaning and oiling semi-autos.
What does /k/ recommend to keep my new baby factory-clean with an action that glides like silk for years to come?

I know, I know. At least give me credit for uncucking myself.
What cleaners do people like?
I'm also in the US, FWIW

Hoppes 9 and Mobil 1.

it cleans, lubricates, preserves and also works on wood, leather, dry skin, cuts, athlete's foot and shingles, cures cancer, aids and brings world peace

I use it on the rubber seals on my car doors as well to keep em from sticking in the winter
Yeah you got tests that show some snowflake lube being better at rust preventing but i've never had a gun rust rust with the Ballistol. I do use some heavier oil like Mill Tek 1 (only because I got a shit load of it free) on slide rails and locking lugs.
Still bust out some Hoppe's just for the smell sometimes but still finish it with the Ballistol

Does Ballistol actually (((neutralize))) corrosive salts like it claims? Does that mean after shooting surplus ammo i dont have to boil water down barrel and can bathe it in ballistol?

I used it in my time in the Bundeswehr on my good old MG 3 all the time. It was the best stuff to get all the shit out of the barrel. And i still use it to clean my Rifle after hunting. It never let me down.

it does all it claims and so much more. It keeps insects away innawoods, cleans brass and silver and works for nasty fingerprints on stainless steel.

AND IT SMELLS LIKE LICORICE OR SOMETHING I LOVE THE SMELL FUUUUCCCKKK
Your vepr will operate bone dry without noticible wear. Just hose down the wear spots with oil if you feel like it faggot
CLP, don't be stupid.

Good to see another mobile 1 guy

I use Ed's Red to clean the bore, Windex for corrosive ammo, and SLiP 2000 for lubrication
Small amounts of bearing grease only where it's needed.
I use Breakthrough to clean, CLP to lube. I'm pretty new to guns so I don't really know what I'm doing. I used to use Hoppes #9 but It would stink up my room for 3 days straight even when I ventilated it as well as possible.
Still haven't tried ballistol yet.

it also cures people with smell sensory loss
slip 2k is a good companion lube.
