They're not gonna look at your phone. They're not gonna look at your computer. If you need a clearance, they will be talking to folks that knew you at each address you lived it. Make sure you list people that will tell them what you want told.

Not sure how this works for the Army, but for the Navy I admitted to having smoked the herb on a handful of occasions. All I needed to do was fill out a drug waiver and give a written statement. I made sure to keep that statement for the sake of consistency if I ever need to fill out any other paperwork. My recruiter told me that the navy didn't particularly care as long as I'd been clean for 6 months, hadn't done it more than 10 times, and hadn't done anything harder than that. As other people have said, the military generally won't find anything unless you've been arrested. Also, as they said make sure that you've picked people with favorable views of you for your background check.
