A joint AEW&C, EW and electronics thread would work instead of this.
I had a thought a few days ago, take the Erieye radar of a SAAB 340 and stick it on top of a S-3 Viking.
Obviously there isn't much, or any, point. But is there any reason why it wouldn't work?

S-3 is good platform. ASW S-3, maybe this ES-3, KS-3, C-3. Can see I am a fan of Common Support Aircraft, LMT's S-3 or NOC's E/C-2.
As long as it is better than E-2D in a future replacement, which crew and payload would kill it off.
Why do people still use the dome AEWC, when there is the flat AESA radar like the gulfstream G550

>flat AESA radar
I just pictures a Guppy with a four faced AN/SPY-6

Ah... the FWAP, AKA the flying wireless access point.

Radar arrays can output more power directly perpendicular of the array, thus it's useful to be able to steer the array despite electronical scanning

Thanks.
