FN SCAR

FN SCAR - expensive
M1A - kinda expensive and people bitch about the recievers
Kel-Tec RFB - dont see them very often but it's on my list so im bias
FN FNAR/Browning BAR - BAR is 4k and heavy as fuck.
Vepr - no idea
Sauer 303 - no idea

>>

It's a pretty violent system, but I can't see it doing any actual damage or being any worse than how much an AK flexes everything.

Probably not. It is just sheet metal after all, not carved from stone; it's gonna have some flex to it.

Sheet metal worker here, Likely not BS, just misunderstood.

Almost all metals flex to some degree, especially pressed firearm parts, but the metal is, to some extent, elastic

You can flex metal and it will return to its natural state as long as you haven't over stressed it past its deformation point where a flex becomes a perminant bend

So, I've just recently joined the ranks of /brg/ and I have some questions before I take this thing out to shoot it. I've already done my research on tuning the gas system but I have a question relating to the hinging mechanism of this gun. Is there expected to be any play at all between the receiver and trigger housing? I know these aren't precision rifles but I've noticed that when closed up it wiggles ever so slightly, so slight that it took me a while to even notice it. In manually cycling and dry-firing the gun I have not noticed any impediment to its operation but I'm wondering if this is something I may have to send it back to the manufacturer to fix.

Voyager is fine.
Its a cast receiver. But modern cast is better than 90s forged. Just be aware its not as desirable. The barrels are green mountain, so not very good. Not completely awful though either.

>>32862907
So am I better off with a PTR then this? I heard PTR's are not very accurate rifles.

Roller delayed blowback is a pretty accurate system, m800.

I would get a PTR over DSA but I'd get a well built FAL kit over a PTR.

G3 clones are inherently more accurate than FALs due to design but it takes you being an actually good shot to notice any difference.

DSA isn't terrible, but they're not great either. They cut a lot of corners for how expensive their rifles are. A kit build, if done well and with good parts, will be a more solid choice. DSA wouldn't be a terrible choice, but you can do better in relatively the same price range, it's just a little more work to find.

I am honestly intrigued by the thought process behind the creation of such an abomination of a gun.

And the barrel, what barrel are you going to use for it?

On some of the DSA rifles, it says that the uppers are cut for a carry handle. Does this mean that any carry handle will attach? Or will I have to use a specific one from them?

The SCAR-H is probably as good as battle rifles will get before hitting the diminishing returns wall; it would be nice to have a slightly longer receiver, better sling mounts, a sturdier buttstock, etc., but not enough for anyone to realistically design a whole new gun with those features that would have to compete with the SCAR for market share, nor for USSOCOM to ask FN for a Mk 17 Mod 1 anytime soon.

Not a KB thing. Roller delayed blowback is extremely hard on the bolt group. Needs to be replaced every 6k rounds or so.

Not even remotely. The most you'd need to replace if you started having issues are the rollers or locking piece unless you did have some weird catastrophic failure.
>>
>>32881741
>self destructing headspace
I hate this meme. It's a widening bolt gap due to wear.
>You measure "bolt gap". 4 different roller sizes are available and when these rifles come from the factory, they are all set up with the smallest size rollers (so as wear progresses, newer bigger rollers can be used to maintain an acceptable bolt gap).
>After you run out of rollers that will bring your bolt gap into acceptability, you'll need to have the barrel removed and reinstalled so the smallest rollers bring the bolt gap into maximum safe tolerances.
>>
>>32881793
>>32881879
>>32881783
Basically, yes. Every so often you will need to replace the relatively cheap rollers to keep it in head space. At son point you won't be able to get rollers bug enough but at that point you will need to replace the barrel anyway.

Cast receivers mostly, the QC on the manufacturing of them (and forged) has gone downhill. This mostly meaning timing issues, having to excessively torque the barrel in or needing shims to get it timed correctly.

They do stand behind their products, and if you get a lemon, they will back it up. But way back in the day, when the receivers were made in house they were much better. More recently when they sourced them out to LMT to make they were the best FAL receivers ever made.

why didn't you just get a norinco famalam

All I can tell you is don't get the promag. For that money I could've gotten an hour with an escort and that would've been a much wiser investment.
>>
>>32882798
>why didn't you just get a norinco famalam
Because I don't like supporting chinamen, and I have doubts about their quality.
>>
>>32882813
So instead you support covetous Jews with questionable quality.
>>
>>32882825
At least those jews are employing North Americans.

One of the reasons the M1A sucks is because there's no good way to mount an optic on it.

There are, they just arent cheap
Well some are
>>
>>32882894
I'm aware of the difficulties.

The only real other options for a BR in Canada is Robinson Arms XCR or an AR10 and they are always $3000 +
>>

Have you tried asking your local mosque for a Valmet or Zastava in .308?

It looks so badly out of place.

You can always jerry-rig a Cetme forearm if you're not super autistically picky, nobody but me even notices.
>>
>>32883606
Jerry Seinfeld actually wants people to stop suing "jerry-rig". Says it's antisemitic. Use "nigger-rig" instead.
>>
>>32883697
I considered saying "Sakuya-rigged" since he helped me make it fit correctly(thank you senpai), which is worse, "nigger-rigged" or "Sakuya-rigged"? Does anyone know where you can get a clipped/pinned metal lower for a PTR?
>>
>>32871993
imbel is not shit bitch, other than the fact that its the lame type 3 design, they are strong and well built receivers.
>>
>>32884107
Type 3 alone makes them not worth considering unless your building on a south american parts kit.
>>
>>32884142
There's literally nothing wrong with type 3 unless you don't like the aesthetics and even that's just a personal opinion.
>>
>>32884177
Not matching your lower looks like shit.
Not having type I or II lightening cuts looks like shit
Having a SA kits looks like shit

still better than a PTR

Are you loading them with unjacketed bullets or something? I mean, I wash up after range trips, but I've never been overly concerned after just loading some mags.

Interesting optic concept.
But it didnt really sell for a reason.

I've heard that you should spend more on your glass than your rifle but that's kind of ridiculous.

That's actually a SCAR 17S, and the stuff next to it is dog feces, not a rifle.
