I like the 930SPX myself. If you are dead set on complying with the SAFE Act nonsense then you can get a mini 14 or 30, and remember that building a compliant AR is an option.

You can also get an AR lower and build whatever you feel like.

The Albany area gunstores (mostly owned by the same guy) have a safe act FN 308s that are pretty recent but in the 1300 range. I may want one later but need to get a new house first

Hello fellow Jew Yorker. I built an AR with a lower and PSA kit I bought, then added NY legal features. Some stores sell sketchy versions of "featureless" guns by using the kydex grip wrap which allows you to have a somewhat unmolested rifle. Also 10/22s are great for semi auto plinkers that can be made non compliant should you wish to.
