I'd honestly prefer something bigger or hotter, maybe .45acp, but in a perfect world 10mm or .40sw/.357sig.

I'm assuming you are talking sidearms talking about defense. Otherwise a 12ga, a heavy caliber rifle or even 5.56/.223 will get the job done.

Moose are big, but they aren't as THICC as they look.

I'd probably take .44 magnum or .454 casull if it's a handgun, rifled slugs if a shotgun, and go for something like .308 or bigger if it's a rifle
