No wait, at 12 gague you're pretty much stuck between DD and AOW. SBS if you give it a shoulder stock. If you make it long enough and give it a long enough barrel then it's just a shotgun but that's no fun.

Weld a cuck rod like those british "pistols" onto the frame of a flare gun so the OAL meets/exceeds 26" and you can shoot 12 gauge out of it. I use 3" and black powder loads.

If you're doing this in your garage, you'd have to make it with a stock, an OAL >26", AND a barrel >18" or it's an SBS and will always be an SBS due to the stock.

If you're doing this in your garage you'd have to be a real retard to accidentally manufacture an item with the wrong NFA classification.

Basically a "firearm" is the only way to do this legally without paying the BATFE or just making a "shotgun" as above.
