Is this pretty much how tank warfare was in WW2?
>>32829045
Whoever saw the enemy first was more likely to be the victor in any tank battle. Hence insane shit like when a M8 Greyhound armored car knocked out a Tiger 2.
No, Pacific should be sherman vs emplacement. I don't think there was a tank engagement as big as the one you have in the pic.
>>32829076
I think the first engagement on the eastern front with kingtigers consisted of a T34/85 hunting them through a village and wrecking 3 of them.
>>32829045
Not even close.
That is just a compilation of memes.
One tiger= five shermans
>meme shit
5 jap tanks= one sherman
>don't think there was ever a tank battle that big in the pacific
one tiger= a fuckton of t-34s
>the "but you can't just keep throwing men at the Wehrmacht" meme
>>32829076
>>32829117
The Romanians were so badly armed by 1945 that they were forced to use French R-35s to bait the Germans into the kill zone of a Panzer IV. THE Panzer IV. All the Renaults died but so did 3rd Panzer Division.
Yes, I'm aware that by "division" they probably meant "5 tanks plus a halftrack filled with the residents of the nearest retirement home"
>>32829045
My grandpa was in the war, he remembers quite clearly being descended upon but T-34's with pompoms glued to the side forming tank triangles.
>>32829076
M8 didn't take out a tiger 2 it took out a tiger
still funny though
>>32829713
I noticed that before, and I went to the trouble of looking through the action reports for the incident, and it was indeed a Tiger 2. I'll try and dig up the docs for you if I can.
>>32829076
>>32829713
>>32829894
That's right, they wrote tiger there, but if you go two pages forward in the report, it lists it as a Mk 6 (King Tiger) in the enemy casualties list for the day.
>>32829713
Fug, that M8 must have gotten all the halftrack puss.
>>32829972
Talk about balls. You see one of the heaviest tanks in the enemies arsenal roll past you unnoticed, so you decide to race up behind them and blast your 37mm at their ass in point blank range.
>>32829045
Nope
>pacific: Japanese tank rush
lolwut
>>32829045
Japs didn't have that many tanks
>>32829524
wat
>>32829102
Im pretty sure the Japs did a tank brigade banzai charge at night on either Saipan or Tarawa, literally just charged straight into the Shermans. Obviously they got wrecked, and thus the only armoured fighting formation in the entire Japanese army was gone. Was definitely more than 5v1 though.
>>32829713
mfw we need a thread about the brass-balled lunatics of WWII
>>32830909
Yeah found the vid for you naysayers, the bit about the tank banzai charge is probably about halfway through.

>>32829045
You're forgetting that the japs were starved of gasoline the entire time.
And the T-34 was a great tank.
>>32829994
100% historically accurate. Trust me, I was there.
>>32830406
Saipan saw the largest tank engagement of the war in the pacific. 37 light tanks assaulted what was I think 12 Shermans in the dead of night.
End result was 33 Ha-Go light tanks burning in the field.
>>32829713
didn't realized that the 37mm were even capability of going through 80mm of armor at point blank range.
Accurate version
>>32833698
Pretty much this. Mad wehraboos need not apply.
>>32829175
It's maybe not correct in terme of power ratio but correct in terme of number.
>>32833698
DELETE THIS
>>32830909
Well you're right. But the Japs did have more tanks. They kept them on their main island for reserves in case we invaded main island.
>>32829045
It depends on who you fanboy
>>32834517
I would love to meet a Japanese tank fanboy.
>>32834524
I don't even think Japanese Tankers fanboy Japanese tanks.
>>32829494
Haahahaha
>>32829045
Pretty much
>>32829045
>how tank warfare was in WW2?
>swarm of T-34/85
Nope. I know its started in soviet films because
1. Real T-34 looks goofy
2. It was not in Soviet Army after war stocks.
But now everyone repeats this meme after soviet propaganda.
>>32833698
Couldn't agree more.
>>32830996
Kek
>>32834524
I-I like Japanese tanks...
>>32833698
>our tanks fucking suck
>but they sure are sexy
>oh yes they are
>>32833635
The later war M71B1 shells (which were the same as the M71 AP but with 300 feet/second more muzzle velocity) could pen about 77mm at 100m, and I'm sure shooting multiple rounds at the same spot also helped in punching through. Still pretty impressive considering it was 80mm at a 60 degree slope.
>>32833698
Still wrong.
The Germans should be running to surrender to the Americans.
>>32829045
Nope
>>32833698
Yep. Also pic related. Can't wait for the next Victory Day parade!
