Ok guys, I need your help.
A friend of mine went in a bunker that is on his land today and found an old car inside.
He says it's "a german car with a MG on top" but he's the least knowledgeable guy on WWII and guns I know.
So, the car is 4-wheeled and, as he puts it, "has an MG on top". The wheels have been stolen. The car is supposedly too big to fit through the door and that makes me believe there is a vehicle entrance that collapsed or was destroyed.
So, I thought about a Willis with an M2 at first. Then a Kubelwagen but I don't recall any having a mounted MG.
Perhaps a Kfz13 despite being retired from service in '41 ?
I don't have any photos, only his word. I'm going to check on it as soon as I can and I'll bring back pictures.
Also, there is a possibility the bunker is only a small part of a bigger complex if my theory on a vehicle entrance is correct.
Last info, w'ere in France. So most probably it's german, american, british or canadian.
Oh yeah, and sorry for the pic. There's a Kfz13 on it.
Get pictures plzzz
Get pictures and then buy it from him.
>>32826123
As soon as I can go there, I will.
I'm trying to get infos on what I'll find there.
I hoped it would be a SdKfz 251 at first, but he precised "not tracked".
So no Kettenkrad either.
I'm sad, but happy.
Also, he found some 20mm HE shells in his garden, as well as a shitload of fired and not fired .50BMG.
Some months ago he digged out a box of Stielhandgranate and used one in a fox "den".
pic related is the 20mm shell.
>>32826159
I hate to play doubles advocate, but think about why your friend keeps coming across these things.
Your friend has come across more ammunition, weapons, including an unrecovered and intact fighting vehicle, and explosives in a few months than many amateur historians and archaeologists have in decades.
Firearms and vehicles are usually fair game, because they're easy to inspect, repair and restore. Explosives and ammunition is never a good idea to experiment with even if you know what you are doing.
>>32826208
So you're saying it's only make-believe ?
The bunker is on "hunting land", so it's closed off to anyone, except his family and friends, and they go there almost only on hunting season.
I have trouble thinking he assembled the car himself inside to impress me.
Or do you mean he's just completely autist for using a live german grenade to blow up a fox's den ? Because I agree on that
Sometimes I'm mad jelly of eurotrash.
At most i could find some insian burial mound and get haunted
>>32826250
I'm not saying it's make believe. I'm saying that he's come across more unexploded ordnance in the area around where you live than the people who dedicate it find in decades.
Don't you find that at least slightly odd?
>>32826276
Its France. As someone who lives somewhat close to France I can confirm there is a lot of space there for stuff to be forgotten.
>>32826250
>>32826276
>inb4 OPs grandparent was secretly Nazi and hid a shit ton of stuff
>>32826255
I'm jealous of americans for gun laws.
Everything is pricey as hell, I can't defense myself or my home without getting buttfucked. And you can kiss doggo goodbye if you have a gun outside the safe and the cops find out.
But yeah, sometimes we're lucky
>>32826276
I find it odd of course. A bunker with a not broken vehicle, it's already strange no one found it., but still.
I never found anything in my garden.
He found a 20mm shell, cartridges and grenades. My best friend lives in bumfuck nowhere, Picardy, and his father found a rotting corpse in his fields once. With french dog tag and everything.
Hold on, I'll try to find the photos I took of his collection
>>32826102
Treasure that machine gun, if it's functional you can register it and own something that normally costs as much as a car to purchase.
>>32826312
Go look. If you like cars, keep it, if not try to sell it to a museum or a collector.
>>32826159
Looks like 20x138mmB aka 20mm long solothurn.
Nice and definitely German.
>>32826312
>not broken vehicle
Wait, what kind of condition is it in?
>>32826409
I have no idea.
As far as I know, only the wheels are missing.
He just saw it, he didn't inspect it. The engine could be gone, we don't know yet
>>32826443
well keep us updated nigger, this could potentially be cooler than that guy who found an MP40 under a boulder.
It is not uncommon to find long lost forgotten things, especially in Europe. Even in America this is the case.
>Own rural property
>Driveway runs through two other properties
>thought this would be an issue prior to purchasing
>lumber yard that owns parcel 1 does not give a fuck and the man told me so himself
>parcel 2 is in the care of estate of an old lady, and the lady over the estate is her daughter in Connecticut and I couldn't even get a hold of her
So basically parcel 2 is about 7 acres of forgotten farmland with a house, barn, etc. Just sitting out in rural Georgia rusting away.
And in France, where most of your people live in a handful of areas, I'm not surprised shit like this goes undiscovered for decades. I can tell you that in the South, you will regularly find old cars and liquor stills and sometimes even guns out in the woods.
>>32826102
>Then a Kubelwagen but I don't recall any having a mounted MG.
From what I can gather an mg mount was a field modification to the kubelwagen
>>32826522
OP here. My grandfather still has some cider from his birth year. 1945. He has a cellar full of bottles of cider. Sometimes one or two go off randomly or explode but that's it.
It's a nice cider.
>>32826102
>>32826159
As always, pics or it didnt happen.
>>32826102
Get it running then go mow down rapeyoufrees while wearing an SS uniform.
If its a USA vehicle, wear MAGA hats.
If its a bong vehicle, wear top hats.
If its a French vehicle, surrender it.
If its Italian, drive it in reverse.
In any case, put it to good use, napoleon will smile down on you.
Determine what it is, then make money by selling it, perhaps after a light cleanup.
>>32826573
>this.
>>32826572
I don't have pics of the bunker or of the car. I'll go check on it as soon as I can, perhaps this weekend.
On the mean time I'll dump photos from my best friend's father when I get from from the shitty SD card it's on
>>32826102
Whatever it is, buy it from him. I'm jelly af
Found the photos, there are 26 of them, I'll dump while I wait for more infos on the car.
First a Pikelhaube and a Webley (I think)
>>32826102
Make sure not to let anyone know about the machine gun. If the authorities find out they'll probably melt it for scrap.
>>32826159
Last time I was in France I was visiting my sister who just became a citizen there. We drove through alot of old ww1 battlefields and I wanted to stop at the memorials etc. She was less enthusiastic about them, but still nuts how much crap people still find
>>32826660
2/26
>>32826671
3/26
A flaregun
>>32826276
It's really not 'that' odd. It is France, after all. They didn't do much clean up after the TWO world wars fought on that land
>>32826682
4/26
>>32826698
5/26
>>32826660
OP delivers
Looks fantastic
>>32826709
6/26
>>32826723
Where did he get the sectioned Shrapnel shell?
>>32826723
I think a K98AZ with a Seitengewehr.
It wasn't long enough to be a Gewehr98, IIRC
Beneath is a cavalry sabre, don't know much about it
>>32826733
No idea
>>32826738
7/26
Colt 1903, bandolier, handcuffs, and some shit laying around.
>>32826661
Realistically the dam thing is rusted beyond repair. But it's nice to dream
>>32826102
pics or didn't happen
>>32826755
8/26
Wider pic, with a trench club, some field-glasses
>>32826755
>plastic box with crackers
>>32826759
I'm one and a half hour away from him, and don't have time to go there before saturday. Will try to go this weekend though
>>32826769
9/26
A S&W, a Webley MkVI and a 1911 by the look of it
>>32826783
10/26
Another Webley, a flaregun, a Lewis magazine on the top right, some bayonets (or is it trench knife out of mortar rounds ? I don't know)
>>32826757
Even so, better to have a rusted decoration than giving it over to the police to be scrapped.
>>32826797
top left are rifles grenades. British ones IIRC
11/26
Better view of the grenades
Mortar rounds on the little shelf
>>32826803
>>32826757
Even then, I'm keeping it if I can. We're already loosing too much museums to let another piece go away. Last year, a big one closed in Normandy, they sold the entire collection in an auction. There's was a Sherman, some Kettenkrad and Willis. I'll try to find the catalogue if I can
>>32826821
12/26
More mortar rounds
>>32826834
13/26
A british helmet, a trench spade and a Millis handgrenade
Bottom center is a hat. british too I think, he organized by nations.
>>32826861
14/26
More stuff
>>32826874
15/26
More stuff with an SMLE. You can see the spade from the 13rd pic
Jerricans in the background.
I also have some movies. I'll put them on webm later tonight and dump them too.
>>32826887
Early Stahlhelm, Crapouillot round, another Webley (what's left of it) and some medals
Don't know what the rifle is
>>32826897
16/26
Another view from the same box.
>>32826912
17/26
More stuff. I think a Luger and a feldspaten.
>>32826919
18/26
General view from the shed.
Behind the ammo box there's a 105mm shell cracked open. Perhaps it's visible in a movie
>>32826933
19/26
A Lebel with bayonet.
The bolt works, but I don't think it could fire.
>>32826944
forgot pic
>>32826958
20/26
Little trench mortar
>>32826964
21/26
Another view. Nice Adrian helmet, some brass lying around
>>32826978
all those rifle casing on the ground are a nice touch
>>32826978
22/26
Closeup of the Adrian. Background right, some grenades
>>32826992
23/25 (I can't into numbers it seems)
Rusted Stahlhelm
On the left it's a piece of steel to protect the soldier from sniper fire.
>>32827006
And the last pic for now, a shelf full of mortar rounds.
Don't know if they're live or not, but I don't think they are.
I'll convert some clips to webms and post them later. There's one of a 12' howitzer shell
>>32826933
where is this Museum?
>>32827092
from the looks of it, a shack or garage in bumfuck nowhere
>>32827092
In a shed in his house. It's an old house so he took the shed/garage and made a little museum inside.
It's in the middle of bumfuck nowhere. Literally.
>>32827020
Top level stuff m8. Thanks for sharing!
Amazing stuff, OP
Thanks for sharing, one thing I do envy about europeans is how easy you can find WW2 surplus around.
>>32827495
>>32827516
I have some movies but they're in .MOV and I can't convert them to webms without getting shit quality. I'll try to find a solution. Or if you have an idea...
>>32827129
he should be carefull with those grenades and mortar, French authorties would confiscate his collection and probably jail him if they found out
>>32827630
Upload them somewhere else and send a link?
Again, this is amazing.
>>32827630
You can upload them to somewhere like Dropbox and link them
>>32827644
>>32827710
Is MEGA ok ?
>>32826123
Zasta, did you ever build that Bizon? If so pls pics
>>32827987
Yes
>>32827987
Sure.
This thread reminds me of a crazy czech guy I've met on the internet that used to sell some surplus like that, he even had some videos throwing off grenades at his farm and blowing stuff with them.
>>32826255
and we're jelly of amerifats because of your gun laws.
But yeah, sometimes, there's some gun gems here too.
Best story is from a friend of mine. Some neighbor of him had a grandpa who snuck into a German barracks in WW2 and stole Lugers and helmets.
Fast forward to the nineties, this guys grandchildren showed up at halloween or a carnival at the school, fully dressed in nazi uniforms, and with fully functional, unregistered Lugers in their holsters.
Some other guy's got a fully functional, unregistered StG-44 on the wall.
Rural Europe is a bit more tolerant towards awesome behavior than the cities.
>>32828071
>>32828225
And here is the link to the clips
https://mega.nz/#F!hBBUCYCB!I8vozM5jswrvqUCKuIQSUQ
All display cases, and the shells
One 13' and one I don't know what it is. But I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end.
I did a bit of editing for OPSEC(tm), took a bit more time than expected, sorry
>>32826159
SdKfz. 222?
>>32828672
Thought about it too.
I'm going there sometime next week, I'll bring back photos and stuff. Or even a name
>>32828657
Thanks!!
>>32828690
Boi, the second you get there, get as many pics of it as possible. I have a mega-boner for WWII German Reconnaissance vehicles. So much aesthetic.
>>32828657
Really nice! Thank you!
>>32828657
>clips
Op was not a fag today
bump
OP, german sportshooter here with a hardon for militaria stuff of my grandfathers. let me know if i can help you
>>32826102
So wheels have been stolen but not the gun?
>>32834635
Rubber rots, steel rusts.
(until recently), boys had penises and girls had vaginas.
>>32834635
>>32834688
That's what I understood. I'm going there next weekend (so about the 10th) and will bring back photos.
I can't go sooner I'm sorry
>>32826738
It's a G98. The K98a doesn't have the rollercoaster sight.
>>32834635
Nah, that makes sense. Especially if the gun is ruined anyway. Right after the war, rubber was a rationed/scarce goods along with many other things. A nice set of tires was a valuable commodity.
>>32826102
Since you're obviously in contact with him, why not just ask him for a sketch?
Send some armored car pictures to him!
>>32836076
Will do when he comes back from his "blanks" finals. I'm going there around the 10th anyway, I'll be able to confirm what it is or if he tried to dupe me.
>>32836501
Dreaming of Sd Kfz 221, but it's honestly probably a Kubelwagen.
