to add...right now reading the draka trilogy by sterling.
imagine a world where the confederates moved to South Africa after the Civil War and joined forces with the Afrikaaners and SA never falls.. they make the nazis look like cupcakes..not for everybody but stirling can write the best villians: no one truly things of themself as a bad person and stirling defends the indefensible through this technique.

They're not my absolute favorite /k/ related books, but I've been rereading the Axis of Time series by John Birmingham since after a decade he decided to add a fourth book. They're interesting, covering the tried and true premise of what happens when a bunch of modern day military forces get transported back to WWII. There's definitely some stretches to give the Axis any chance whatsoever and tactically Birmingham makes more than a few mistakes, but some of the geopolitics is interesting. The USSR's role is definitely well thought out, and apparently is the plot of the next book set in the 1950's.

Blood Red Snow and Soldat make great companion novels to see the Eastern front from the eyes of the enlisted and officers in the German army respectively.

In terms of books I actually thought were both good and well written, I quite like Heart of Darkness and Robinson Crusoe.
>>
>>32831177
It's my favorite too anon I get hard reading the judges opinion on war
>>
>>32825053
I re-read the original Dune at least once a year. I love the StarF.I.S.T. sereies. Neuromancer is good. The older Tom Clancy is great (Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, Rainbow Six etc.). I have a speculative military fiction called Red Army that I bought in a thrift store in Houston a couple of years ago, it's a pretty good detailed account of a fictional invasion of Western Europe in 1989-1990. I really like the Island in the Sea of Time series by SM Stirling, who also wrote Sky People.

For non fiction:

Spillover is okay, Sayyid Qutb and the Origins of Radical Islam.

Comics: Anything by Shirow Masamune (GitS and Appleseed especially, but Black Magic and Dominion are good), Predator, Alien(s), AvP, DMZ, Infinite Kung Fu, Dark Horse/Acclaim Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, anything with art by Joe Kubert, Jack Kirby, Jose Gonzalez, Rob Liefeld and the 90's Image crew.
>>
>>32828725
1984 was okay. I always like Fahrenheit 451 more.

>>32830255
You're an idiot.

>>32832932
A couple of books I forgot: Wingman (post apocalyptic F4 Phantom pilot mercenary), DOOM: Knee Deep in the Dead (novelization of original game), Ender's Game series, Dogs of War (if you've seen the movie with Christopher Walken, the book is better), Shogun.

There are more but I don't have my paperbacks with me to look through them.

you do realize that everything is the result of chromosomal mutations, like white skin, five fingers, thumbs, etc.

also just because you have an extra chromosome doesn't mean you have to tell everybody. might want to keep that to yourself in the future.
