50 state legal is something you'd want to check on. For example in PA in most cases you cannot carry a loaded long gun of any kind in your car.

Currently a Draco AK pistol has been the only thing besides my carry pistol carried in a vehicle but I'm thinking about building a Glock lower AR pistol. Could also put a small can on it because firing in an enclosed space sucketh.

What's the appeal with a big kit? All you need is a pistol, two spare magazines, maybe a change of clothes. Everything else is chaff, will only slow you down. If you find yourself in a long-range gun battle with the cops or dindus, you already lost. Just keep your pistol, and you'll be fine.

couple questions
(1) You said you like to keep the long gun in your truck in case you go camping. Are you implying that you might hunt with it or is it still just for protection? If it's for hunting then do you keep the original end cap, spring, and plug to limit the mag capacity? Some states will only allow you to hunt with 3 rounds in the gun. If it's strictly for defense then it doesn't matter.
(2) do you keep it loaded? Some states also have strict laws regardin transport of a firearm in a vehicle. Usually the gun can't be loaded or within reach, unless its a CCW in a state that honors that obviously. Some even require the gun to be unloaded and locked in a case.

I keep the tube loaded with 00 buck because it's legal to do so in my state. Nevada prohibits loaded long guns in the car, but defines "loaded" as chambered. So loaded tube but empty chamber is classified as "unloaded." When I travel to California I unload the tube since CA defines loaded differently. Neither state requires long guns to be locked.

$99 at walmart.
Took a hacksaw to the barrel and at just over 19" it folds pretty neatly in half.

Take the buttstock off and back the hammerspring screw out some to help with the shitty overly heavy trigger pull.
It is still shit, but livable now. Can't expect too much for the price.

I keep switching between my czechnology. It's about 50/50.
The vz58 is the best truck/tractor gun I've ever seen. A mix of size, quick release folder stock, and soft ejection that won't chip windows etc.
But the vz61 is just so small and easier to take with. 20rds is a lot, plus 2 extra mags, and it's really easy to aim with.

I wouldn't dare have a rifle rack or anything obvious like that, for fear of being broken into or having someone call the cops in a knee jerk response.

Plus, in MI, you need to keep it unloaded in the trunk/as far from accessible as possible unless it's a pistol and you have a CPL.

I plan to get a .44 mag barrel for mine and then I'm working on getting an Encore pistol in .308. Illinois doesn't allow rifle hunting, but you can handgun hunt even with a rifle caliber, so yeah... 165gn SST out of a 15" barrel. Should be fun.
