I don't think I have a good story, I only own 3 guns and researched them pretty extensively before purchasing.

I was at Fleet Farm tho this last hunting season. I walked into sporting goods store and asked the guy working where the ear pro was. He said "what?". I asked him again, he said "What I can't hear you". Then I said "WHERE are the hearing PLUGS!?". He just grinned, I chuckled, old fuck was giving me shit.

I didn't witness this, but I got the story from one of the guys who works there after I saw that the glass divider between two of the lanes had clearly been shot.

Former Dick's employee, a manager has to sign off on all transactions, so that may not have been a gun counter employee. It happens a lot, such was life.
Also they may have been hired for knowledge in a different lodge area, but help at the counter because it's a necessity. It's silly outside looking in, but a lot of times lodge is understaffed because you need to pass a background check and get more safety training to go behind the counter, which obviously leads to less hires.
It's not that Dick's isn't at fault for this, they are, but it's not entirely the employees fault, I got a trial by fire when I started, only had partial training and the background check, and had to figure it out largely on my own until the new lodge lead replaced the guy who got transferred, which took a month.
Fun times.
