What do yall think the best reproduction company is?
Uberti, Taylor & Co, Pietta, Pedersoli?

What about Colts and Winchester current production pistols and rifles?

The current 1866 Winchester Commemorative Yellow Boys are heart stopping gorgeous, but expect a bit of a sting in the wallet.

Trapdoors and rolling blocks are a lot of fun to shoot as well. Nothing like a 45-70 black powder load.

Or a true African big game rifle, like this double barrel rifle in .450 Black Powder Express. Took this out the last time I went to the range.

My 1884. Great great uncle carried it in the spanish american war, was told he killed 3 cubans with it. Honestly one of my favorite guns to shoot, its a shame .45-70 is so damn expensive.
>>
>>32800124
That's why I reload. Cuts down the cost of shooting many things. Also with stuff like 45-70 I can make sure I'm shooting a safe load in the gun. There are so many different power loads for 45-70 being careful is a necessity, a load made for a Ruger No.1 would blow up a trapdoor.
>>
>>32800072
>that fireball
At what point are you just pouring powder downrange?

Also I'm going to meet a guy to trade for a Winchester for 340, how hot can you load 30-30 and why is it so anemic when the case capacity is higher than a 7.62×39?
>>
>>32800224
I'm gonna get into reloading soon, I just dont have the space or funds for it right at the moment. I use the Ultramax cowboy shooting loads, and they do just fine for now, but once I get money for a setup, it's gonna be the first caliber I start loading.
>>
What's a good lever action rifle for a 1st time gun owner? I'm wanting to get something fun to shoot.

(US, NY)
>>
>>32800455
With black powder there's always a little unburned powder going down range but not as much as you think. The reason for cartridges that large is to get higher velocities and power. The loads for that gun are a 405gr cast bullet and 110gr of FFg black powder, it gives you a pretty good shove.
>>
>>32800529
I'm sorry, but if they find out you're having fun, it will be made illegal, so we can't make a recommendation.
>>
>>32800529
What are you planning to do with it? If you plan to hunt I would go for 30-30, good round, pretty cheap, plentiful and will kill most things within 200-300 yards if you use the right bullet. If you just want a gun to plink around with and have even cheaper ammo anything in .357/.38, .45 LC or .44 magnum if you can find it are also good choices.

If you have money to spend go for the Winchester or Henry, for budget get a Marlin or Rossi.
>>
>>32800529
Uberti 1873 is what I plan to go with, an 1860 replica would be pretty cool as well
>>
What do yall think, is a more authentic round for a lever action, .44-40 or .45 LC. Im thinking im gonna go with the latter because of the cost of ammunition. Plus its 3 years older

God I wish pump rifles were more common. Mostly because they're fantastic but also because I fantasize about a pump action rifles fed from a C96 or Mauser style magazine.

May have to track down a shitty pump .410 and see if it could be converted to take desert eagle mags
>>
>>32800455
You can get 30-30 to 2400fps pretty easily, and there are 190gr loads just under 2000fps. The issue is brass strength ,not case capacity. People that want to push it can go 30-30 Ackley improved but why bother? 30-30 does its job perfectly and trying to push it further is nothing more than a hobby. Plus .308 marlin express and .307win exist

Pedersoli a best

Uberti are good
Higher-end Pietta are good
Taylor is Chiappa
>>
>>32809209
<1900 Mosins and Mausers are alright too.
>>
>>32809230
Taylor is Chiappa? I read up on the issue and it seems like they are just an importer for Uberti.
>>
>>32809165
US M1842s are nice. What's the maker on the lock, either going to be Springfield, Harpers Ferry, Asa Waters, or Benjamin Flagg?
>>
Can anyone tell me what rifles were used by the Texas Army at the Alamo, looking for a good Wall hanger to go above my Texas flag
>>
>>32809873
It looks like they pull from several manufacturers. All of their Sharps rifles (which I was looking for recently) were Armi Sport, which is Chiappa. I guess it depends on the model.
>>
>>32810003
Pretty much anything they could get their hands on. Your best choices are a Brown Bess, US M1795, 1816, Common rifles, and definitely any flint Kentucky rifle.
