Hey /k/omrades I'm looking to buy some ammo for my type 38 Arisaka. It's 6.5x50mm and the best price I can find is $26.99 for 20. I've never bought these rounds before so I dont know if it's a good price

That's about right. Certainly not going to find them for much cheaper.
Very few companies manufacture 6.5x50mmSR Arisaka; you're looking at about the best price you're going to get. Handloading is a must if you want to shoot this rifle with any kind of economy.
I personally believe the arisake action is stronger than the mauser action

It is.

Also, the Arisaka is a Mauser action but it is on steroids.

There's no "personal" about it; it's a confirmed fact that the Type-38 action was stronger than the Mauser 98.
>>32795118
Eh.....not really. Mauser inspired certainly, but I would say there are enough differences to call it a separate action.
>>32795228
What are the differences that doesn't make it a Mauser then?
>>32795285
It's cock on close as opposed to cock of open for the large ring (98) Mauser, the safety, the difference in the dimensions of the locking lugs, the use of the bolt handle as the "safety" lug, and the gas mitigation features, as well as bolt construction and disassembly.
OP here, i also came into a couple hundred rounds of ammo (.303, 7.62x39 &54r, and some .223) but it was mostly this

is this an eastern european version of 6.5? i cant find any info on it. also might it be suitable for the arisaka?

I have a 6.5x55 swede mauser
>>32795592
also, its 7.62x25, not 39
>>32795592
that's 6.5×55mm Swedish
>>32795592
It's Swedish Mauser ammo. Won't work properly in your Arisaka.
