That sucks that they were only able to import guns for 8 months before being shafted by Bush 41. While Norinco was still allowed to import firearms until 1994.

Is this worth for $400? I have a friend with a machine shop and a press whose down to put it together with me.

Is a PSAK-47 build kit worth my money (500-600 depending on FFL fee and shipping)? Rob Ski shot 10k through it no problem, but I understand it's basically a WASR-10 tier AK. Basically this would be my first AK ever. I'm just worried prices might drop on imports if the ban gets lifted and then I could have an actual one from glorious Russia.

Go for it.
IF the ban gets lifted, and that's a big fucking IF, it will take a while for Saigas to start showing up. From what I hear those import forms take months to get approved. So orders would have to be placed, shipped, forms approved, sent to dealers, etc.. So you might be waiting another year.
Just go for it. The PSAK is a good gun and you can have it out shooting it in a couple of weeks if you get moving.

OK lads. With Trump pulling magic left and right, should I wait to buy an AK and see if prices go down? The gun part of me wants it now, but the Jew part of me says to wait and watch.
>>
>>32798528
Depends on how soon you want it. If Emperor Trump blows a wad of magic jizz all over the gun world, it could take quite a while to see a reduction in prices.
On the flip side, his actions (or lack of) could have no reduction on prices and they could steadily rise like they've been doing for years. Remember those $400 WASR's? They're $650 and up now.

I'll let you know

I almost bought one of their GAU 5s a few months back because they hadn't announced their XM177E2 yet, but although the GAU 5s and all of those air force variants are cool they're not the same as an XM177 and don't have the same cool factor so I'm happy I held off for what I really wanted. I know it's (((Troy))) but I'm glad that someone is making these retro ARs and that at least Troy makes alright stuff. I hope people buy a lot of these retro guns to show manufacturers that there's a market for this kind of stuff and maybe more cool retro stuff with come out

2018 is the word for when we might see more 107FRs. If you want one you're gonna have to find a used one or NOS one as they haven't been sold through retail stores in months

I'd love to have one of those, but I could get a mint SP1 and twice my weight in ammo for that price. I wouldn't mind getting rid of my 6920 to get an A1 clone though.
>>
>>32799070
You could just buy an original SP1 for like half of that though or just build an A1 for like $1000

I was hyped for Colt's new SP1 up until I learned it was gonna cost two and a half grand. I personally really like Colt (or at least the provenance and lineage of Colt firearms, not so much the modern company) but they just keep on insisting on committing business suicide and it's not funny any more, instead it's just getting more and more pitiful
>>
>>32799015
>I know 1/12 is right but 1/7 is much more versatile
See I personally prefer it to look the part of the clone but have modern internals and was happy to learn that the Troy repros were 1/7 instead of 1/12. Like you said not that 1/12 is bad but just that you can get away with more with 1/7

It was only 5k rounds in his test, but the headspacing was holding up and it didn't have parts breakages, so there's that. It actually shot more accurately than the WASR iirc.
>>
>>32799266
I'm not sure. Store was pretty crowded today so i didnt want to waste the clerks time. He said it was a bulgarian m or n something. Whatever their specific name for the so pattern was. The bolt serial matches the receiver and its still got a little cosmoline on some of the parts
>>
>>32799070
Why would you want a clone of an old gun made from new production parts, when actual parts from that era are available?

You can build a really good M16A1 clone from mostly era appropriate parts and stay well below $1500.

I could be wrong but maybe it's because AK guys seem to be cooler people in general. It seems to me most AK guys also like H&k, FN, and all types of different firearms. Whereas ARfags are tryhard youngfags with babbys first semi-auto. It's like muscle car crowd versus Honda Civic crowd, the muscle car crowd may have a bunch of salty old people but they generally know stuff and will help you. The Civic crowd know nothing but have the loudest mouthes and talk the most shit.

Every time I see a billet AR like that I get jelly. I have a forged rifle built from Dickbat Tactical parts, and two more forged lowers (Aero and Mega) that I bought during the Hillary Panic. As much as I want to have a gucci rifle like that, I keep losing the initiative to do it when I realize I don't even shoot my existing AR that much, nevermind building another one even as something like an SBR.

It's especially bad because I feel like I'm living on borrowed time and that we're gonna be right back in the fire come 2021, so I want to spend my money on other "dream guns" instead in the meantime before the AWB boogeyman comes again (read: SCAR-17).

Feels bad, man. Wish I had a fiancee or wife I lived with so I could own a house and free up $300+ a month in rent costs so I could just blow expendable cash on shit more often.
>>
>>32801155
Eh I dumped a bunch of money into it and wish I hadn't. I have just as good of a time shooting my friends' normal-tier AR's as I do mine. If I did it over again I'd go the normal route and spend the extra money on another gun.
>>
>>32801182
That's the path I'm going down right now. I think the whole "wanting to show off to strangers on the internet" thing is starting to really influence my wants and I'm trying to fight that.

Once my AK is done, I'm chasing a can and SBRing my Scorpion, then Fauxland Special-ing my Glock. Hopefully I'll still have enough saved up for a SCAR by midterm elections.

In all fairness, I was in the same boat, then I won a raffle for that rail, so I just decided "well now's the time I guess"

Gonna throw a BA Hanson barrel on it this year for the improved weight distribution and suppressor performance and call it a day, though. At this point the only thing still stock on the gun other than the receivers are the barrel, bolt catch, and mag release, and I see little reason to change those last two.

I don't know a ton about AK's but I was thinking about buying one so here goes, might wanna verify with someone who isn't a dingus when it comes to AK's:

Fixed stock is the biggest difference, FR's have folding stocks/trunnion with the latch for folding stocks on the receiver.

I think the trigger is different somehow as well

Whats the consensus on the Tantals on Atlantic? Are they subject to the keyholing 5.56 barrels too?

what's the deal with the norinco hunters? google doesn't turn up too much on them, spotted one at my lgs wondering what the going rate is for them these days - GB has a few in the 600-800 range, couple different variants with the sights it looks like.

A barreled receiver. All you got to do is buy a stock, grip, trigger, safety and hand guard.

Is there any significance to numbers carved or engraved into magazines? I've got a couple like this. Is it something like numbering the magazine to a rifle or inventory of magazines or something, or is it likely something done outside of the military?

Also, why are there often numbers painted on the spine or numbered pieces of paper taped to the spine?

Just the barreled receiver gets sent to a FFL. You can get the parts kit for $100 from PSA. And they just sold out.

That's like saying your dick is 5.5 inches. You have to throw in that decimal because you're too embarrassed to round towards the more realistic whole number.

Any one ever had a brown plum ?
>>
>>32804835

>>
>>32804835
If that's an actual brown plum then it's incredibly rare

I know Tula has made non-plum plums but I've never seen an Izhmash one. Try the flashlight test and see what color you get.

Hard to tell from pictures because you never really know what the white balance is doing.

I looked through the thread where I thought I had the pics of the brown Tula "plum" mag but I couldn't find it.

It's kind of like the Bulgarian "firebrick red" and the other weird colors they made the (21)'s in and whatnot. Except it's a shiny texture and Tula. You might have lucked out on that one.

A mag like that would be in the twilight zone, not enough precedent to know what they usually sell for, and not common/well known enough that you can name your price. No clue, definitely hundreds though.
