YES, H Y P E

Also, for an AKM, when is it "correct" to have a muzzle nut rather than a slant? At what point did the Soviets fully replace the nut with a slant, or did they simultaneously issue both? I'm nowhere near as versed in AKM stuff as I am in 74 stuff

Also I'm asking because I bought an Egyptian nut to replace my ugly US made slant and I'm not sure if a nut would be correct for a Maadi or if it was just a nut off of a ban era gun

Either way I'm keeping the nut on the gun simply because it's Egyptian until I finally pick up a proper Egyptian slant (if I ever find one)

Combloc AK's are getting fewer and fewer, Century said WASR's are going to be coming in less and less as well as Zastava AK's, Arsenal wont be getting anymore SLR-107FR's until 2018. There is the other Arsenal AK's but that's about it. The worse part is there are no correct AKM's actually being imported which sucks.

Fixed stock plum or have a gunsmith install a 4.5mm rear trunnion and turn it into a triangle folder. 88 kits are too cool to build them into something they're not.

Just look at this shit. You could have this.
>>
>>32789672
It's funny because the 4.5mm folder is wrong for the 74M anyway.

If he really wants a 74M, he needs to find an SGL-31-94. No other options.
>>
>>32789765
Yes, that was the point of my half-joking advice. If he were autistic enough to know every detail of an AK-74M he wouldn't even think about starting with an 88 kit. At least with a 4.5mm trunnion he could get some thing close to the 74M look and feel, but still be able to slap a triangle on and have a period correct rifle.

>>32789709
Great condition Izhevsk triangles are easily found for like $85 on the files, it's a great time to buy one.

Looking at pictures of AK9s just got me thinking, you know what would actually be pretty cool? Take a 5.56 AK and cut the gas system down to the same length, would probably take some modification of a FSGB and a standard gas tube, plus a custom sized piston, and I think ballistics would be shit too but damn that sounds like fun and it'd be pretty unique

>tfw one could make a coherent argument for an SLR-104 being a "Crimea clone"

Just slap on black poly furniture, optional smooth cover, and a plum grip and beat it up a little. Will these be the Khyber Pass of the future?

Pic related probably has a 4.5mm trunnion drilled out to 5.5mm. Same droopy stock angle as an Arsenal. What I wouldn't give to get a close up look at some of these rifles.

I found a Russian article talking about them being upgraded, I'm not home or I'd find it.

Not sure if they're built from AKS74s or fixed stocks, you'll have to find a good side picture and compare angles. I'm not sure what a 5.5 stock on drilled 4.5 trunnion would angle like.

In the twenty minutes I've spent looking at pictures it looks like such a project would have to be done from a kit, not converting a rifle. The way the GB is set back you'd have to close the old gas port and drill a new one, which seems iffy to me. Otherwise it looks piss easy to make a clone of. If I had the money to fund it I'd totally be on top of it right now, but this is at least plausible enough I can keep it in mind for the near future

Also it looks like the AK9s all have adapters for their side mounts because they have normal AK rails but every PSO-1m2 that's mounted on them is crazy far forward and still has the SVD mount for the scope, I fucking want one. You ever notice those before? Mobile postin or I'd provide a pic, you can see it on the guns if you just google them

The reason I get excited about that photo is because the stock angle looks very close to my SGL 21, which had a 4.5mm rear trunnion installed by a previous owner.

I fitted a 5.5mm Russian polymer folder with a 4.5mm pin and some brass shims to keep everything tight. The angle turned out to be not as in-line as a true 5.5mm setup, but just a tiny bit less droopy than an Arsenal 4.5 poly folder.

The nice thing it would allow me is building as a pistol rather than converting a rifle and having it pinned, so putting in the 5.5mm trunnion later as an SBR would be an option. Your mention of .300 BLK actually sounds cooler than 5.56, but cycling would probably be a bitch

I grabbed one on my phone if you wanna look at it, it's hard to see in all the pics though because it looooks like the adapters are a factory piece, they're finished the same color as the receiver rather than being slightly off. You can see how far forward of the normal mount the scope is, along with what I'm 99% sure is an SVD style base rather than an AK one too

I'm surprised you don't like Ukie stuff though, between them and basically every poorly paid Russian who is allowed to modify their rifle I have seen very few combos I don't like. Something about it really appeals to me

I'm still confused about what AK to get.

I've already decided on a 74, just debating whether or not to get an SLR104 or this Bulgarian parts kit built one that Classic Firearms sells. I'd prefer the cheaper one, as long as it works, Does anyone know if they're any good?

Yeah from what i here he is a straight up guy. I money doesnt matter get a nice 7.62x39 ak to put it on. :^)
>>
>>32792755
I'm getting a Bulgarian pistol grip for it too, apparently they had to put the shitty looking one on for 922r compliance
>>
>>32792755
I don't trust anything classic sells. They exist to shill for cheapshit saturday night special guns. I miss when they had actual milsurp and not turkshit and jennings pistols
>>
>>32792759
Well I plan on getting a 7.62 down the road so I'll save the stock and just buy a decently matching HG set whenever that happens.

But yeah he seems pretty cool.
>>
>>32792755
These James River kit builds just came onto the market. I haven't seen any reviews, so buy at your own risk.

I'd get the 104. Buy once cry once and all that.

Sorry couldn't tell what the base rifle was. 5.5 on a Bulgarian is a waste.

Before I commit to buying a gas tube and get it wrong like I did the stock, is there any differences between 74 and AKM gas tubes? Guy listed them as AKM's but I see no difference.

http://www.akfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=294062
>>
>>32793218
Yes you must get a 74 gas tube they are different. If i was not at the gym id post the pics on were they are.
>>
>>32793218

Those gas tubes are vented and lack the rear spring that '74 tubes have. One would work but may require minor fitting.
>>
>>32793291
>>32793237
If fitting is the only issue fuck that for now, I'll get a proper one once I get the front end properly converted.
>>
>>32793218
There is a difference and those in the pic are indeed AKM style gas tubes

I don't know if they'd work on a 74 or not. They might. You're still better off getting a 74 gas tube because it will have the spring to keep it from rattling.

>My advice on Arsenal is
I don't buy things I want.
I buy things that are good.

A $1200-1500 AK is going to fucking work and not have many issues, be collapse-able while not garbage, etc.
I have three things to spend my money on: Weapons, lolis/cuties, and using money to participate in operations against those I oppose.
I'd prefer not to waste $500 extra on an AK that does nothing more, but if it's reasonably better, I'll take that one.
I figure before SHTF I won't have enough, nor the training, to handle a $7000 rifle, so I might as well just get a good AK, throw a thousand rounds down it then get a couple thousand more, and maybe get another handgun and a questionable rifle for whatever lad I end up trusting.
No point in buying two $700 AK's only to put one in the hands of a literal imbecile and have the value wasted.

There's nothing in particular that attracts me to sam7 other than I want 7.62 and suuure I'll take a folding stock.

so for the next few hours the thread gets a few replies and when OP woke up and saw it he completely sperged out because he didn't make it, then whined so much that all the lemmings on here went over to the thread he made and let mine die.
didn't exactly upset me. I thought it was hilarious.

I don't see any "sperging", but I started all the 100 series threads (except 100 and 106, I think), and there's no other "conflicting" threads in the archive.

So either you didn't link the new thread in the old thread (what happened in 82) or it in fact wasn't properly formatted, thus the sperging (which may or may not have been me, you'd have to find it)
