Why are they in such a bad situation ?

They make excellent and famous guns. They have contrats with the military in particularly the swiss army and the new swiss service rifle will probably be the SG 553...
But they have exportation problems with swiss laws and to sell into the US market (the reason of the existence of SigSauer)..

On the other side you have B&T (which is un excellent manufacturer too) doing very well and expending. The company is selling pistols like the APC9 and will sell his APC556 too on the US market. Plus the export guns are made in Switzerland like the normal ones.

Why is SAN SwissArms facing so much problems and B&T not ????
Why nobody cares and let this company dying (especially the swiss government) ?
As a last resort couldn't B&T buy it and absorb it ? Or at least the government save it and incorporate it into RUAG ?

Is SAN SwissArms inevitably going to die and the 55X family with it ?

Because it's a skeleton of the former company. Literally just a few of the old staff working in a derelict shed to finish a few contracts and perform maintenance on army guns.

All new production is moved to Sauer & Sohn in Germany, using CNC to make all the new cookie cutter guns, and is therefore shit.

The real Swiss SIG really ceased to exist back in 2000, when the SIG company sold all the gun-related production facilities and decided to focus on making beverage containers, lol.

So if you own any "SIG" guns made after the year 2000, you've been duped, BADLY.
>>
>>32788621
One of the reasons why B&T is doing good is because their rifles cost about 30% less than the SIG equivalent (APC223 is CHF 2600.00, SIG 551 is CHF 3600.00). They also offer a complete line of SMG, integrally suppressed SMG, and rifle with the same ergos. All guns are completely customizable. So if you want to equip your police department with one line of guns, B&T is a good option. Then, they also have compact PDWs, sniper rifles and grenade launchers. B&T also tries to innovate. A new pistol/carbine hybrid called the USW should come out this year.

SIG lives on its old glories from the 1990s, the 550, 551, 553 and the grenade launcher that goes with it. Some parts are even purchased from B&T (railed handguard, Rotex flash hidder...).
>>
>>32788621
I'm wondering what percentage of firearms production cost is the price of labor.

Swissarms is competing with German neighbors and Germany devalued its currency by coupling it to south European countries (without rising wages) ...

DM and CHF used to have a fairly stable exchange-rate,
the CHF to EURO rate is currently almost 1:1, it used to be 1.6:1, when SwissArms was created.
>>
>>32788621
>SG553
>new service rifle

why would they chose a weaker version of the SIG550?
Dont they know a short barrel is shit for 300 meter range?
>>
>>32789291
>when the SIG company sold all the gun-related production facilities and decided to focus on making beverage containers, lol.
Do they still have any tooling left over for sale?
>>
>>32791250
Production costs in Switzerland are brutally hight due to labor and infrastructure cost.

A CNC mechanics makes about CHF 71'000 per year in Switzerland. In Germany the same guy makes EUR 34'000 per year. A guy working in the warehouse makes about CHF 55'000 per year in Switzerland. The same guy makes EUR 33'000 per year in Germany. A secretary makes CHF 61'000 in Switzerland and EUR 28'000 in Germany. An engineer makes CHF 99'000 per year in Switzerland vs. EUR 60'000 in Germany.

And things sum up. Because there's not only your costs as a Swiss manufacturer, there are also the costs of your Swiss suppliers and Swiss sub-contractors that add up.
>>
>>32791260
As far as I've heard they are testing a number of intermediate calibers to substitute 5.56, but it's just hearsay.
>>
>>32788621
Don't give a shit. I just wish they would expert rifles to America so I could buy them.
>>
>>32791429
Yes yes and yes.
i was thinking about setting up a firm to produce cheap ar15 for the swiss market, but as it turns out those we produce now are already at their cheapest.

What use are high wages if the cost of living is this high? An 800 dollar gun goes for 1400 in Switzerland, not to talk about hardware store materials costing easily double what you pay for them in America, and that is if you are able to find them at all.
My country is weird.
>>
>>32788621
>They have contrats with the military in particularly the swiss army and the new swiss service rifle will probably be the SG 553
Stop this meme. It wont, not now and not in 13 years.
>>
>>32788621

>The real Swiss SIG really ceased to exist back in 2000

>>32791156
>>32791429
But B&T is doing pretty well

>>32791156
How SG 551 cost that much if they supposed to be manufactured is Germany ?

>>32791156
>>32789291
Could B&T acquire SwissArms or at least the licence for the SG 55x ? They have the tools and all the equipment to produce it. They could even make an improved version.

And why the government isn't giving a fuck about that ? SwissArms is the supplier of the army. And somehow it comes to national security and independence. If the local production and knowledge disappears it make us more and more dependent to other countries.

And once the knowledge and the production capability is gone, it's really very hard to get it back.
>>
>>32791584
Fun fact. All patents on the SIG 550 are being held by Switzerland itself.
>>
>>32791462
There is already one company "manufacturing" ARs in Switzerland: Astra S.A. in Sion. The company is super-shady. They took the name Astra to be associated with Spain and are located in Switzerland to be associated with quality. The reviews you can find, suggest that the different parts are made in Asia (probably by Norinco or EMEI) and probably only assembled in Switzerland. The StG-4 rifles go for CHF 1850.00 apiece.

Well aren't Waffenfabrik Bern and Konstruktionswerkstätten Thun incorporated in RUAG ?

But yeah.. Privatisation (even partial) in the 90' and early 2000' was fucking stupid. They did the same with DiePost/Swisscom (PTT), the SBB/CFF, etc...

And the money whores of the FDP/PLR are pushing for a 100% privatisation of all those companies.

Don't worry, the Zurich and "Grison" SVP is just as much whoring for money as the FDP. Don't forget that the richest member of the national council, which is a SVP woman, supports the USR3 - which will make all people pay more taxes. In the mean time, big companies who are mostly responsible for the uncontrolled immigration and all related problems (overcrowding - less room to shoot, explosion of cost of living - less money too shoot, explosion of costs of health care - less money to have kids so we have to resort to immigrants to secure our AVS...).

Fellow Swissfags, I am looking for a nice AR-type rifle to shoot for fun. What is a good brand that I can find in Switzi without really breaking the bank? Heard lots of good stuff about Norinco.
>>
>32792573

only $800 in Molenbeek, Brussels
>>
>>32792573
For about the same price as a Norinco (CHF 1000) you can have a Ruger 556 or a Smith & Wesson M&P Sport II. It's the two I would recommend.

One price category higher (CHF 1500 to 1800), you have better Smith & Wessons, some SIG and Windham Industries.

Jesus christ, you are literally the reason that we will end up losing our guns.

The exempt only applies TO THE FUCKING MILITIA.

Does NOT APPLY TO CIVILIANS.

Let me put this clearly:

>You are a soldier and you keep your Stgw 90 at home.

Exempted from the ban.

>You are a civilian not the in the militia or you finished the military service and are not in the militia anymore

Not exempted.

Basically, they WILL ban our guns, from the civilian population while letting CURRENT militia members keep the rifles OF THE GOVERNMENT.
>>
>>32792883

Les vétérans devront justifier de leur adhésion à un club de tir.

I know french and this basically means:

>Join a fucking club
>Participate in the said club every few weeks

Fuck off, it's still a ban on people that just want to own guns.
>>
>>32792987

>What is reading comprehension

the article mensions nothing about models other than converted Stgw90, plus it adds a NEED clause, meaning that if you don't need a gun like that, you don't get to own one. It turns gun ownership into a privilege and it's still shit from a political standpoint. This Schengen shit needs to be voted out.
