Just an FYI but there is a significant difference between actual historical samurai and how they and bushido were portrayed by the Japanese Empire in the early 20th century.

For one depending on time period there was a lot of social and economic mobility so Samurai was just a profession. So one could move from Samurai to merchant or farmer and back pretty openly.

Even when Samurai started becoming a politically active class the romanticized image of a Samurai giving his life without question for his lord or committing hari kiri was exactly that, romanticized. Plenty of Samurai would leave a one lord to serve another. It's like the difference between a Chivalric Romantic knight and an actual historical knight.

There are other misconceptions too, like weebs thinking that Samurai were some kind of death cult.
