there's a distinct lack of an edged weapons thread.
Swords, sabers, axes and the like. Starting with one of the greatest blades ever created.

replying with one of the most aesthetic lines euro blade ever made
>check them curves
>>32784199
i kinda disagree.
>>32784236
You disagree that this blade gemoetry >>32784199 is most aesthetic and pleasing to the eye?
Are you blind or just really bad in taste?
>T-back, hollow grind, wedge edge, back edge at the tip, blade and handle make an ergonomic S curve.
>side ring on Tierce, contre guarde on quarte, quilons go down for 3/4 handguard
>sexy lions head pommel and twisted handle for extra swag

I disagree wholeheartedly.

You sir are queer by all sword standards! Likely you are some eastern yuropoor pervert!
>>32784312
I wish fittings like that weren't so expensive to make. I'd love to get a replica of such a sword, but if tachi fittings are anything to go by, I'd be spending a ton just on getting them made, ignoring the cost of the blade itself, scabbard and handle, and the ray skin to wrap the whole thing.
>>32784439
10 bucks says you are a person ethnically associated with the users of this sabre.

Poland stronk!

>In poland, we make sabres with straight crossguards, because DEUS VULT
I mean, it's not like I disapprove.

A leftover from the hungarian saber.
That one handles really well though.

I bought a halberd head a while back. I still need a shaft for it. I kind of want to use a shovel shaft since I can vouch for how strong they are.
tfw you were going to be given your grandfathers WW2 Navy Officer saber but your dick uncle probably sold it
>>32785756
I swear I included the pic.
>>32785772
With langets like that you'll probably want a rectangular shaft
>>32785782
I was thinking I would carve the sides but I don't really know much about polearms and attaching them to shafts. I just play dark souls.
>>32785756
>Halberd
>With a round shaft

US? if so, buy 1-3/4" x 1-3/4" Hickory lumber, around 6", Get a draw knife and shape shaft octagonal, oil with linseed oil and your good.
Europe, same with metrics and Ash.
In both cases make sure that the grain runs along the entire shaft and is not broken or cut.
