About to buy a .357 New Vaquero, because I suddenly decided I needed to own a SAA but don't have deep enough pockets for the real deal, so I decided I'd go with function over form for my second choice. Any advice?

Jesus christ OP, get a cimmaron. If you want the real SAA Experience and you're buying a Vaquero that is certainly not the way to go. Vaqueros are mechanically completely different from any other SAA on the market. Cimmarons are cheaper and of much better quality, although they arent +P rated

Get a cimmaron or taylors in 45acp
I have a .357 vaquero blued. What do you want to know?

Well like I said, I don't care that much about the authenticity if it's not a genuine Colt. My autism is just demanding I get something that feels Western. Everything I've heard has pointed towards Vaqueros being probably the most durable and rugged CAS style gun, so that's what I was going for. 4 clicks would be nice, but I'm willing to give that up for a transfer bar to carry 6.

Cimmarons and taylors arent GENUINE COLTS, they're not made by COLT they're made by CIMMARON and TAYLORS. Also, my Uberti Cattleman II has 4 clicks and the proper loading mechanism hasnt been totally raped, The firing pin is just retracted inside the hammer when it is not cocked.
New Vaqueros are significantly more reliable and slightly more durable. They are also more expensive than Italian imports, whose only fault is that the four clicks spell "C-O-P-Y" instead of "C-O-L-T"
If you can, get a used one. They can be had fairly cheap and if anything goes wrong you can go to a gunsmith and have it taken care quite easily.

They're both made by Uberti...
>>32774442
What do you think? Worth it?
>>32774643
I know they're not genuine, that's my point. I don't particularly care about it being a perfect clone. If I'm getting a colt then that stuff is awesome, but otherwise pretty close aesthetics are fine. I looked into a Cattleman, but I've hard they're frailer guns and noy
Also, I'm a pretty big fan of Rugers. Never had a problem with one before.
>>32774646
You're recommending an Uberti or a Vaquero?
>>32774759
Whatever your preference is. If none exists, whatever's cheaper.

>About to buy a .357 New Vaquero
JUST DO IT. YOU WILL BE FINE.
The real Colt SAA sucxk because its noit safe to carry 6 rounds in the cylindar.
the vaquero lets you safely carry 6 while being a tank of a revolver that can handle modern cartridge loadings

Civ model, 45LC, favorite gun. Definitely recommend it, especially if you can find the stainless under MSRP.
>>32774098
Do it OP. I love mine.
>>32775131
>>32775176
I've found a pretty good deal, now I'm trying to convince myself to buy a stainless. I know it's more practical, but the blued just looks prettier IMO.
>>32775312
I love blued and parkerized guns.
Something about shiny SS finish guns i just dont like.
Even if its the exact gun i want and a good price, i wont buy it if its SS. Gotta be blued
>>32774098
Just ordered a Uberti 1873 cattleman. Heard good things about both Uberti and cimarron.
Get a 45LC instead.
>>32776058
why?
Is it better than .357 ?
>>32776069
Yes.
>>32776069
It's more expensive and you won't be able to shoot .38 special for cheap
I got a .45 colt for muh authenticity and regretted it.
>>32776111
Why?
>>32776131
This. Get the .357 if you want to shoot it a lot. Unless you reload, in which case get the 45
>>32776131
Will shooting a .38 in a .357 affect accuracy?
>>32776058
I /was/ going to get a .45 LC, but I don't reload yet and I'm a poorfag.
>>32776215
No. It's just lower velocity.
>>32776227
You can get decent 45lc for about 30cpr. It ain't terrible. I buy from lax a lot.
>>32774409
>>32774607
To each their own but this why I prefer the Vaquero, especially the older model. MUCH more durable and can blast hot loads all day long.
>>32776249
Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out.
>>32774759
>What do you think? Worth it?
I like it.
Does fanning SA guns damage their internals?
>>32778533
Yes
>>32774098
If you aren't getting it in .45 LC, then you dun goofed.
>>32778533
>>32778590
^ This, i have a Uberti SAA that i have to get a replacement cylinder spring for because of it.
>>32774098

>>32774607
