To my knowledge no load for .300 BLK can achieve this without using machined bullets that cost a few dollars each. This also means that basically all dedicated PDW calibers that aren't designed for use from a shorter pistol length barrel are obsolete considering you can get true rifle like performance from a similar size package with the M855A1.

For those interested in what this means for long range performance with regular barrel lengths. The M855A1 has a slightly flatter trajectory than the older M855, and M855 hits the 2318 FPS from this test at about 250 yards from a 20" barrel, 225 yards from a 16" barrel, and 200 yards from a 14.5" barrel (see pic related), meaning the M855A1 will still manage to fragment at least out to those distances. Not even the Mk262 Mod 1 was able to fragment at those distances. The Mk262 Mod 1 also stopped fragmenting once you started going below a 10" barrel.

>that cost a few dollars each

oh just like 855a1
>>
>>32772734
M855A1 is only expensive on the civilian market currently due to low supply.
>>
>>32772707
No one else is interested in this?
>>

I am. I was going to do an 18" bumpfire 100rd drum build for my next AR, but I think now it might have to be a 7.5" pistol with a flaming pig
>>
>>32772707
Now, that the M855A1 is here im asking myself, what is more deadly a regular HP or the new M855A1?
I mean, I know, HP bullets are still prohibited in any Armies but just a hypothetical question.

Fragmentation is better than just tumbling or expanding, because fragmentation can more effectively cause damage over a wider area. If you're stuck with ammunition that just expands or tumbles, then you may as well be using pistol ammunition unless you need a flat trajectory for long range shooting or the ability to penetrate body armor.
>>
>>32776295
HP bullets still leave the more devastating rounds. Its by design.

HP bullets fragment too

Not necessarily.

>HP bullets fragment too
Not all of them do, and there are plenty that are specifically designed to minimize fragmentation.
>>
>>32776372

But isn't fragmentation a bad thing against body armor and such?
>>
>>32777224
Not really, M855A1 fragmenting doesn't keep it from being the most widely available 5.56x45mm ammunition that can penetrate most NIJ III plates (both steel and UHMWPE) on the market today along with some companies' attempts at NIJ III+ plates to stop common rounds that their previous NIJ III plates failed to stop.

M885A1 available when?!?
>>
>>32776295
HP bullets aren't prohibited for the US military, we never ratified the Hague Convention. They're actually considering going to HP 9mm for sidearms.
>>
It's also worth mentioning that M855A1 is a higher pressure than other 5.56 rounds. Something to keep in mind if you're running pistol gas systems.

>HP bullets aren't prohibited for the US military, we never ratified the Hague Convention.
That argument didn't work for the Nazis after WWII in relation to other widely accepted international agreements.
>>
>>32777224
fragmenting of the M855A1 doesn't stop its steel tip and copper slug from punching through body armor
>>
>Poboy was blessed from a viewer that sent some really HOT rounds to be tested

M855A1 is no hotter than M855, this youtuber is testing hot handloads.
>>
>>32777886
he didn't mean hot as in fast, he meant hot as in new or popular.
>>
When will M855A1 be available on the civ market, anyway? How long did it take M855 and M193?
>>
>>32777886
The DoD lists it as hotter, they list that as a benefit.

That's a really big jump you made there.
