So my Dad gave me this 80s 10/22 and when I took it out shooting, the scope literally fell off. Now my Dad isn't a huge gun guy. He likes them, but not a big shooter really. He put this thing on himself, and I'd say he's a 6-7/10 handyman. Better with some things, worse with others.
Judging from the looks of things (more pics to follow) there was maybe 1? screw that was actually in? I can't believe he would do something so stupid. You guys tell me, based on the pics, what you think happened? anyone have experience with this scope? BSA Sweet 22

underside of scope. mounts are still attached to scope (lol)

its an aluminum receiver and its really easy to strip out the screw holes on a 10/22 by over tightening. if thats what happend sucks for you enjoy the shitty stockirons.
if the threads still exist just reinstall and use locktite.
its also possible the screws worked themselves out over time.

this would've been the first time it was fired with the scope on it. dammit I liked the little rifle
just use some duct tape or some pipe clamps, that'll do it.
Just take out the bolt & drill & tap it for a larger screw.

This. Actually, have a gunsmith do it for you.

this
If you wanted to get really fancy you could D&T the receiver holes to a larger size and make some threaded steel inserts to loctite in place and use the original size screws again.
Are the holes stripped?
If yes, drill and tap for the next larger size that still fits in the mounts
If not, just put new screws in

the front was fucking glued on
