We all agree that 5.45 and 5.56 perform pretty much the same

We all agree that 5.45 and 5.56 perform pretty much the same downrange.

However, I would like to put forward the notion that 5.45 is the more efficient of the two in terms of its cartridge dimensions and raw material usage, as well as having a hair more ballistic potential.

>Shorter, slightly fatter case = more better burn
>Longer, higher BC projectiles don't waste as much case length, saving raw material

Take note that I'm ignoring all the other general differences relating to features that can be changed at any time, like steel laquer cases vs brass, berdan vs box primers, and the obvious difference in projectiles utilized in both military and commercial loads.

5.45x39 is unironically, unequivocally, and 100% truthfully a best

That phone case is rad, is it just the part of the tin cut out to fit under a clear case?
>>
Also tapered for gooder extraction
>>
>>32765988
OP here

I would honestly call the taper on 5.45 a tad excessive.

5.45 straight up rapes any soft target it touches

Nonsense taper is never too much.

Who is superior again?

Don't think I'm not looking at you M855 green tip fags out there too. Your round fails just as bad.

M193 is your god. If you shoot anything else you deserve to be raped by Tyrone and his posse.

Did you not read

>the obvious difference in projectiles utilized in both military and commercial loads

Projectile design doesn't mean shit insofar as general cartridge dimensions are concerned. That's something that can definitely be swapped at will.
>>
>>32766346

BTFO'd by a Chauchat mag, poor guys.

BTW that mag was probably the biggest weakness of the 8x50R version (if you look closely you might spot a couple entry points for mud)
>>
>>32766234
>>32766300
See >>32766494

Projectile design is fucking irrelevant.

Although it should be noted that the Russians don't even (officially) use 7n6 anymore, and nobody has any 7n10 or 7n22 to test.
>>
I still think the cartridge shape of 5.56 NATO lends itself to a scaled up P-90-like magazine design.
>>
>>32766570
5.56 has a taper. It's not totally straight-walled.

III+ stops M193 dead in it's tracks

Anyone know about M855A1 though?
>>
>>32765908
this.
also 5.45 has lower pressure resulting in a longer barrel life
>>
>>32766593
>Anyone know about M855A1 though?

Burns through barrels like thermite through the WTC's support beams.
>>
>>32766585
Tells me I should scale it up to 7.62 NATO then
>>
>>32767004
7.62x51 has a slight taper as well.
>>
>>32767028

Maybe 10mm auto?
>>
>>32767028
>>32767004
>>32766585
10mm. You wouldn't even have to rescale it, just put a heavier bolt because lolstraightblowback.
>>
>>32767047
That's not so bad. Straight blowback, or roller lock? A top-mounted 50-round P-90-style mag on a roller-locked short 10mm sounds good to me.
>>
>>32765908
the other 99.99997% of us are not impoverished so the difference is negligible
>>
>>32767079
Roller delay would probably save you a fair bit of weight in the bolt.
>>
>>32767157
I just worry that it would beat itself to death like many other 10mm guns.
>>
>>32766642
Not if youre only firing semi auto
