Anyone here have an AR57 upper?

My LGS is selling one for ~$500 and I'm in love with the look, thinking of getting one of those Hera arms stocks to make it like like a full size p90

I've seen people use gutted mags to catch the brass if you reload.

>>

Just buy a p90 fag.
>>
>>32764547
just the upper?

...eh I'd buy it. do a full once over on it though.

I don't have one, but was interested in them a few years ago when they came out.

Pretty interesting mechanically, but it combines the worst aspects of the AR-15 and the P90. You end up with the added bulk and weight of a carbine firing a pistol round. I've also read the quality control has been an issue.

If you hate shooting go for it. As a 5.7 owner it's a meme caliber for only the memeist.

I owned one a long time ago, it was fun, it's reliable enough and new shooters really like it, plenty accurate.

As long as you understand that you are buying a range toy, go for it.
>>
>>32766556
bump, I'll do a last minute AMA on what I remember of it.
>>
>>32768107
barrel length/max effective range? Reliability? cost of ammo? legitimacy of defensive applications?
>>
>>32768244
I think it was 18" barrel
Max effective range? Man it's a range toy or a varmint gun, assuming there's low wind you could drop a squirrel at 200 with the proper optic 5.7x28 is pretty light, think little baby .223 - that brings me to a point - because of the breach and extraction pattern you cannot put a magnified optic on these, you're limited to something that doesn't cover the breach.
cost of ammo? dude it's 5.7 do your own work
defensive app? This is a very optimized platform for fighting people
>>
>>32768296
>defensive app? This is a very optimized platform for fighting people
Typo, very UNoptimised

>AR57
the award for worst gun of the decade goes to the AR57. Lose all of the velocity that makes the AR15 worth using instead of a pistol, and lose all the usability/concealability of a pistol.
