Cringeworthy gun moments in movies

In US Marshals when Tommy Lee Jones calls a stainless 1911 clone a 'nickel plated sissy pistol' then says Glock is superior
>>
Someone called your chosen cock enhancer a sissy gun, and now you need a group hug to make things better again. How cute.

I have seen people in real life, IN THE FUCKING ARMY, with their aimpoint on backwards. So the idea of some senior citizen wannabe operator, i totally think their producer made the right call in having a hollywood nogunz do their costume design.

He's pointing the gun at a little girl in that picture you posted though, so taken out of context, looks retarded, and generally the weapon handling in that show is pretty retarded but in that specific case he's shooting someone quite a bit shorter than he is, it might be warranted

There is nothing special about .45ACP, not when it comes to the loadings used by LEO.

I would rather have 17+1 of similar performance than 7+1 in a same sized package.

But then, I'd prefer a Beretta 92A1 Brigadier or S&W 5906 over either if I got to choose.

>>32761169
>mistakes
>muh nintuneleben baw
It's fucking opinion, you sensitive fag.

>>32761347
Yeah they will do that in movies sometimes, give kids so called "Non-Guns" made out of rubber, then use flashpaper loads or post processing to add muzzleflashes.

It's a matter of rules on set, depending on production company, country, and insurances.
It's not a goof in the slightest, it's just movie making.

>>32761443
Because they think it doesn't matter (and arguably it doesn't), and TWD is a shitty show anyway, look at fucking Grimes pointing his Colt Python (an extremely dated and ill fitting choice for LEO), like a gangbanging nignog.

Taurus pt945 OP
>>

>complete lack of muzzle rise and slide movement
Also not unusual during production, if they're doing a shot at point blank or a suicide, they don't use regular blanks because that shit can fucking kill you, people have genuinely died from things like that on set so they do it differently these days.

They will use either a rubber or another inert Non-Gun and then add a flash with flashpaper or CG.

For an example of this, look at tge scene in Zombieland where Woody Harrelson barricades himself in a booth and start shooting zombies with his 1911s, if you pay attention you can see that in some shots they sometimes turn into P226 pistols with slides that don't move.

.40, not 9mm
>>
>>32762415
Yeah and they're all lower capacity.

Today, a high capacity .45ACP pistol is the FNX, 15+1, pretty damn good for it's caliber, but in 9mm, the FNX is still 17+1, and that's still plain better capacity, combine with the fact that good HP loads of 9mm can easily compete with good HP loads of .45ACP

A 20rd magazine of .45ACP would protrude significantly, while on something like a Beretta 92, a 20rd magazine is barely an inch outside the grip.

Except its a taurus
Except i would never carry a 1911 on duty because its single action and you dont carry locked and cocked.
Also from someone who owns all three the taurus pt , the glock 22 , and various 1911s i have fewer issues with the glock under factory settings , getting daily holster wear and abuse than i do with the others.
Go back to polishing your one gun you never fire
>>
>>32763629
how long did it take before that bullshit caliber about .223 being unusable for hunting?
>>
>>32763659
Hey, anything higher than 10 in caliber that's .380ACP or larger goes pretty far if you compare it to average shooting incidents, but I just prefer capacity, so 9mm Luger gets me pretty far.
>>
>>32761161
>calling a gun a sissy gun on /k/ is an insult

bruh
>>
>>32763601

I never understand this logic. I down own a single. 45acp, but I completely fail to understand why people don't think that all the improvements to 9mm don't apply to .45

Feel free to check our a ballistic gel videos with modern .45 for once.
>>
>>32764351
Because when it comes to handguns, a bullet is a bullet, if it reaches the penetration minimum then it's adequate, beyond that, a service caliber has very little appreciable difference in performance when it comes to human targets.

Critical Defense loads of 9mm, .40 and .45 all roughly compare (same goes for Gold Dots and HSTs), if you want dramatically better terminal ballistics then you're not looking for a service pistol, you're looking for a rifle or shotgun.
Pick the caliber you shoot best, shot placement matters the most.
>>
>>32763575
No, it was a 1911 in the movie
>>
>>32761347
Holy shit, how did this pass??
>>
>>32764969
Because of insurance reasons, some production companies and some insurance companies either don't allow children to handle firearms loaded with blanks on set, or require higher premiums or have other rules for it.

http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Non_Guns

The rubber gun is ENTIRELY deliberate by the production crew, not a goof.

I can't wait for the black and white dogmatic rationale to die, do you not see how uncompromising and absolute it is?

Do you honestly believe there's no value added in higher levels of kinetic energy? Of larger crush cavities? How about more torn veins and arteries, more shattered bone launched further disrupting and bleeding from more tissue? Is your rigid formula willing to dismiss these real, physical, measurable effect all because one REPORT (not een study) one REPORT from the FBI came out saying "we're going back to 9mm and here's why"

On top of ALL OF THAT - large bureaucracies make changes because of other factors than efficiency, like cost and laziness then figure out how to make it play later.
>>
>>32761147
How about everytime anyone holds a pistol gripped, pump action shotgun out at arm's length, one handed.
>>
>>32765219
You've got to remember, 95% of their audience don't care and don't notice.
It's like when it's fairly obvious that they taken all the drive train/exhaust etc off of a car in a film for a flip. Most people don't care or even notice anything is wrong.
>>
>>32765397

>>
>>32761161

>>
>>32765325
>Do you honestly believe there's no value added in higher levels of kinetic energy? Of larger crush cavities? How about more torn veins and arteries, more shattered bone launched further disrupting and bleeding from more tissue?

11 might be a higher number than 10 but that doesn't mean it's significant, a little bit more penetration, a little bit more cavitation, etc, it's simply not a considerable difference in terminal performance.

If I have 9mm and want more velocity, more weight, I wouldn't go for .45ACP, the difference isn't significant (hell, it has less velocity), I would go for .45 Super
>>
>>32761147
It's not a 1911 you fucking mong, it's a taurus

I won't spoil it but the new XXX movie has several scenes that just pissed me off, and a handful of them a gun related that just completely took me out of what enjoyment there was. Movie simply can't hold a candle to the original.
>>
>>32768505

>>
>>32768505
>hold a candle to the original
You have seen the original right ? Or do you have nostalgia goggles on? It was cringe worthy trash aimed at pubescent boys.
>>
>>32769689
I have a nostalgia monocle on. Yes the original has it's issues and your criticism is quite valid, but the movie still has it's merits in my opinion. The lines, the stunts, the action and the overall setup just work for me, and I can still enjoy it despite the flaws.

The new one however I have major issues with overall. The only parts of the movie I really like are some of the cool shots, the rest of it ranges from ehh to what the fuck. A good portion of the movie is cringe central, especially since they felt the need to do comicbook style animations that add nothing and make the movie that much worse off.

Also it might just be this current generation of action movies but I fucking can't stand how the camera is all shaky and zoomed in way too far during big action scenes. It's impossible to tell what the fuck is going on and some atrocious editing at times makes it that much worse.

>>
>>32770178
Because the director/writer generally don't give a fuck if an actor corrects them or gives input, see the "Glock 7" in Die Hard 2, Bruce Willis pointed out that this was absolutely asinine, but was told that it was in the script and that's that.
