What do you think of this list?
1. Springfield Armory 1911
2. Nighthawk Lady Hawk
3. Kel-Tec P3AT
4. Ruger SR9c
5. Ruger LCP
6. Kel-Tec PMR-30
7. Charter Arms Pink Lady Undercover Lite
8. Smith & Wesson M&P Shield

for concealed carry or just to have at home?

because there is absolutely no sound excuse to stash a tiny compact pistol at home that you never CC unless absolutely nothing else will do.

i wouldn't recommend any of these per se, i'd recommend the gun that fits in your hand correctly.

I don't even like the kick of a Springfield 1911 I don't think it's a good choice for a woman. Neither are small 9mm because they are snappy and harder to shoot.
>>
>>32752963
Why not a rifle? They're much easier to use.

Rifle for the home. Compact comfortable pistol for carry. Make shooting it is not a problem. Try out as many guns as you can.

The sr9c and shield are good choices. The less said about farter arms and lel-kek the better, especially the rimfire .22
There is no reason to go with a cheap, hard to handle subcompact for home defense. Nighthawks are also stupidly expensive considering they're small frame 38s. Your list is Ladies' Home Journal tier.

00 buckshot is .38 just to be clear. People actually believe .223s fragment in drywall after an inch but birdshot will make a new door in the siding, its basically paper mache.

P3AT, LCP are the only guns that belong on that list, and only for CCW.
Glock 17/19, PPQ, VP9, P30/USP, TP9SA, etc. are for home, though rifles are better for HD.

I'd just rather make 40 holes in someone than one, especially if they're at close range. You're the one that seems to think shotguns are weapons of mass destruction that will spread out super quickly and murder half your house.

who uses birdshot? shotguns are effective with buckshot or slugs, but blow through walls like the walls are made of tissue paper. varmint bullets are designed to dump their energy with little resistance, yet still penetrate sufficiently on a human

Except it's 9 pieces of lead slamming into a focused area instantly, not one. Low recoil buck in a semi auto shotgun doesn't recoil for shit, and you can fling more 12 guage out if you need too pretty rapidly.

>>
>>32752963
With the possible exception of the Nighthawk, those are all shitty guns. Unfortunately, I do not know of any gun that is good out of the box for less than a very large price. The only way you are going to get a good gun is to buy a stock one and have a gunsmith perform the needed modifications.

the ones I've come across at gun shows have worse SA triggers than a stock Glock. if the slide is that easy to rack, it's because it's using slide mass rather than spring tension. that makes for a fucking tank of a gun. teach the bitch how to properly rack a slide and stop buying crap

I recommend .38 special/.357 magnum revolvers for women generally.

Some women seriously have difficulty racking the slides on some full sized guns, and weak/poor grip can cause feed issues with some guns. I have seen both of these issues with a few women I dated.

I feel a 4 inch .38 revolver's ease of use and generally light recoil are good for most women, and even though it lacks some of the velocity a 9mm can give you, throwing a 145 or 158 gr bullet about 1000 fps ain't no joke.

Then, as ling as you buy one that is .38special/.357 magnum, the user, if she feels comfortable with the recoil, can even up her load to a .357. The fact the shooter can practice with cheaper .38s and then load .357 for home defense is nice as well.

If we are talking long arms, even though they are rough for many women to handle I think a 18in barreled 12 gauge is still the best load. I like my first few rounds to be no4 buck, to held reduce chances of over penetration compared to 00.
>>
>>32752963
>Hey lady, you wanna buy this knife?
>>
Why are you recommending subcompacts?

Why?

Seriously why do people do this?

If you're going to use a handgun for home defense, especially a woman, recommend a full sized pistol with interchangeable back straps that can be tuned to a much smaller person.

Full sized pistols are easier to shoot, rack the slide(extremely important) and have more shots.

When I pushed my GF, mother, and sister for their CCWs I let them use my Ruger SR9 and they all easily qualified, which is funny because my mom and sister can't shoot for shit with their P938s and in my mothers case, she can't actuate the slide reliably anymore.

But HONESLY, why are we even recommending pistols?

A 12, 20, or 16 gauge shotgun is much simpler and easier to use, especially in youth models.

Pistol caliber carbines like the Sig MPX and CZ one are a ton easier to shoot than a pistol and don't require much arm strength at all to load and shoot.

In order of what I personally recommend,

1. A shotgun they understand how to use and can manage, that is also well fitted.

2. A pistol caliber carbine that is simple to use, with a brace of course.

3. A full sized, no nonsense handgun.

Glock 17SF or 19SF comes to mind.

Seriously folks think about it.

Different strokes. I have sent my mom and dad on a cruise before. We grew up lower middle class. Never went hungry, always had a roof over my head but zero luxuries. My mom and dad would always put my sisters and me first. They would go without so we could have stuff. I am by no means rich but I am in a position where I can do things for them. Besides, a gun is not something my mom would buy herself so it was a no brainer to let her have it.
>>
>>32753768
Then you got bubba's beat up POS. I have 1 in mint, as does my 5'0" mexican mother. Both have excellent triggers. They're lighter than my M&P, and the slide is easy as garbage to rack. Especially compared to my shield,

>5.56 doesn't penetrate walls meme

https://youtu.be/AXOIQgfvVlE?t=66

How is it that a higher velocity, heavier projectile penetrates less walls compared to #4 buck?

The whole point of the shotgun for home defense is that it makes up for the relative weakness of its individual projectiles by their sheer volume. This is ideal if you want to maximize stopping power while minimizing penetration.

Ultimately though, anything but birdshot is going to go through at least one wall, so regardless of what you're shooting you need to be aware of what's in the next room.

>>32753770
Most womens I know can't handle pump guns, an m4gery would be the best choice for a long gun IMHO.

>>32752963
20 Gauge shotgun with 00 buck or an AR15

handguns are shit for home defense and shit at stopping threats in general

this idea of handguns as home defense guns needs to stop, its going to get people killed

>20 Gauge

Usually the reduction in weight of a 20 gauge gun compared to a 12 gauge means that they recoil almost the same.

Just get low recoil loads for a 12 gauge

>>
>>32753852
Why though? It's not like they're barbells, or that they're going to have to hold them out with their arms straight for hours at a time. The recoil is what hurts and makes them not want to shoot anymore.

go make Mexico great again, or go support the US from Mexico. either way, you're on the wrong side of the wall.
>>
>>32753639
My point was even birdshot can go through 3 interior walls and into siding. 223 can go straight through all of it without losing a lethal amount of energy, soft point or not. If you hit your target thats great but misses with a rifle will absolutely exit your home and kill anything outside. So will buckshot of course. I don't know who started telling everyone 223 jhp disintegrated in sheetrock but it's nonsense.
