No. All air soft PEQs look fake. You can usually tell in the right lighting, the texture of the polymer used for the body vs cheap made in China plastic. Other signs are visible adjustment screws, covers, or other misc details. Anyone familiar with this technology will be able to recognize a fake one easily.

For clones, you can get the ATPIAL-C, which is .7mw only but aesthetically is the same.

Where's the other 7.4 cents per round going? With subs, powder's gonna be like 1 cent and primers are 3 cents. Convert your own brass from range scavenge or buy a bulk pack from blackout brass and reload them forever as long as you stick to subs.

D2, i2, or A3?

All have their ups and downs. The nice thing about Steiner lasers are the strong aluminum type housings and QD mounting. The height over the rail is enough to easily accommodate weapon lights at the 2 or 11 o'clock positions without ghosting the beams. Also, the availability of a visible green laser is nice.

Between all civilian models, I would pick between the A3 or D2. If I need high illumination, for say, hunting purposes, go with the D2. The A3 is functional and has an IR based illuminator vs LED (like the D2), but is very weak because of FDA restrictions on lasers. Would be effective at <50 yards. Is adjustable though vs the ATPIAL-C illuminator flood.
