Free float is over-rated, free float tubes often weigh more than plastic handguards, and then if you don't get the right one it will shift and you will have to re-zero your BUIS.

They have a purpose, but for poor peasants like us it really isn't necessary.

Looking to grab a better pair of BUIS for my rifle. Bought pic related just to say I had sights on my rifle, but they're too bulky for my taste. I want something that sits significantly flatter. I'm currently looking at a set from Lirisy Tactical:

If I use a 20" barrel with rifle gas length with carbine stock would I need to change out the buffer spring, or just the buffer? Everywhere I read says that an H3 weight buffer would get me best results, but no mention on if the spring needs change. Judge me, IDGAF, I want a full length barrel but I don't want the fukyuge A2 stock, adjustable stock gives options for length of pull.

Of course you get to mount a light further toward the muzzle, but that isn't really worth the weight when you could just set the light a little farther away from the handguard and get nearly the same effect with less muzzle blast hitting your light.

To that end, it lists no barrel lining or nutiriding which makes me think it is u lined and blued. The upper receiver is listed as mil spec dry film and not Type III hard anodized. Dry film is a poor substitue for hard anodizing.

New barrel nut, your choice of hand guard, low profile, carbine length gas block, and your choice of front iron sight.

The difficulty comes in removing the front A2 sight/gas block and then removing the delta ring. The aftermarket parts go on very easily. If you don't care about reusing the parts, you can hammer all the pins out without caution; probably pick up a new gas tube as well to be safe. You will need an armorer's wrench though.

Yeah, I'd use TSX probably. But I wouldn't use an AR for HD anyway unless I was shooting out a window at someone far away. If they are in my house I'm probably grabbing a pistol.

In my opinion you are correct, Ive often wonder the appeal FMJ as it seems so limited for my uses, namely defense and hunting. To add to the unpopularity of FMJ in my area all the ranges require you to shoot an expanding style of bullet either hollow point or softpoint. I think FMJ is popular namely because of its price and availability as compared to expanding ammo, but I could be completely mistaken.

Sigs are very sensitive to lubricant, you need to use tw-25 grease or similar to ensure they run well. and some of the police trade ins were beat to shit (like any other police trade in.)
