Thinking of buying a 30-30, just wondering get if it's possible to load to .308 velocities, doesn't really seem to be a case capacity problem but I'm pretty sure there's more than throwing more powder in there to increase velocities
If you want a .308 levergun, then Browning makes that.

I can't afford it, like tubular magazines and already handload so I thought why not. Pressure seems to be at safe level for modern actions but can't find many resources on it.
>>32736272
.307 Winchester is what you want then or you can be smart and buy a box fed leveraction .308
.30-30 is inefficient
>As big as .308/7.62x51
>Can't handle pressure
>>32736779
It's not just a question of the action, it's a question of brass too.
>>32736809
30-30 improved Ackley is about the same though.
>>32736272
.45-70 or .30-30? I want to get a Henry guide rifle, and I can't decide on a caliber.
>>32737093
.45/70, 30-30 is a pretty middling cartridge
>>32736272
Just get a Marlin .45-70 and jump to the head of the lever gun class.
>>32737159
Used winchesters go for like 300-400 45-70 anything is almost twice that.
Fucking Rossi discontinuing the Rio Grande, that 6 +1 capacity was perfect and the price was great. Kicking myself for not buying it at the time.

Maybe they should have thought before making a poor fag gun that shoots 75 cent bullets
>>32736272
I've already got a 30-30 levergun.
Now i want a levergun in .357 mag to pair with my .357 revolver
>>32738120
>pair with revolver
This. Someday I will own a .32-20 lever gun to pair with my future .32-20 Colt Police Positive
Looking to pick up a Henry Big Boy Steel Carbine (16.5 inch barrel) this week. I don't mind the tube mag. Anyone have one? Opinions?
>>32738326
Mostly positive reviews from what I've seen from owners/users posting on YT
I want a lever gun, but 30-30 and 45-70 are expensive.
Also what's the effective range for these rifles and is it hard to aim with them, considering that I hear alot about bullet drop?
>>32737246
>45-70 anything is almost twice that.
and it shoots $2 bills!
I found these at a gun show ahwile back has anyone used these before?

.308 lever rifle. Fuck custom hand loaded 30-30. .308 from the factory and be done with it.
>>32737093
.45/70. You can always hand load to lower velocities.
>>32739932
I came
>>32738661
Effective range for 30-30 is probably 150-200 yards. I couldn't tell you about .45-70. If you want a .45-70 I'd suggest handloading to manage prices, as for 30-30 prices aren't terrible but I usually look for ammo on sale at the cabela's or bass pro near me (I'm in PA so roughly half of the population has a 30-30 for muh deer). I'm considering getting a reloading press but it isn't really due to cost, I just want to try it.

Look like Karlyn Fireflys
Made for hunters for signaling for help.
Custom Ranch hand carbine

Don't get a Henry unless you like loading like the rifle is a rim fire. And have fun topping up the tube with your hand in front of the muzzle

Doesnt matter if your finger is off the trigger

Henry Long Ranger loads with detachable box magazine! FTW!

>have to take out and top off a magazine or pay 70 bucks for a new mag
THEY FIXED THIS PROBLEM IN 1895 JUST MAKE THAT YOU STUPID SHITS

Get a load of this guy. I don't think he actually likes guns

>copying the BLR
Very innovative

Still. Loading it inside a vehicle can be a hassle, my uncle had a Henry for hunting and he loved it except for loading it at the top of the tube.
