So I graduated a month ago, already accepted a job in my field, starting in a couple weeks. I just found out I'm getting relocating pay of $6,500. That's going to cover everything with plenty left over, I won't even have to touch my savings account for apartment fees and such.

So I can use some money from my savings account to buy a gun. Pic related is what I have currently. I'd like to get something special, under 1 grand (preferably around $700).

>tl;dr op is a faggot who has gun money, what should he get?

Just get a pistol you like bro, what did you major in if you dont mind me asking?

B.S. in Marketing analytics

I was thinking a S&W 686, I'd like a 357 wheelgun.
>>
>>32732201
looks like you need a shotgun
>>
I don't see a .22 rifle, a shotgun, or a modern centerfire rifle.

I'd buy a Ruger 10/22, a Remington 870 with a 18" bbl in 12 gauge, and an AR/M4 variant,

I like the 1911s, so I'd get one if I didn't already have two, and-- this is just me-- I'd look for a Baby Browning because I think they're the coolest little fucking things ever manufactured.

Honestly? Save it for a rainy day. Get settled first.

When you're getting used to a new way of living you never know what can happen.

Meanwhile, do as much research as you can and know what you will buy. Don't let it be an impulse purchase. Even if a "killer deal" shows up, sleep on it to be sure it's right.

Now go off to gunbroker.

>Honestly? Save it for a rainy day. Get settled first.

Let's not take all the fun out of OP premise, you wet blanket.

If you had a couple grand to spare, what would you be hunting down?
>>
>>32732508
>>32732529
Logical, but I'd like to get something a bit more special.

>>32732538
Very true, but I already had some money saved away. I'll have money leftover from relo pay as well, so my savings, even after a gun purchase, will be in a good position.

Anyone here owned or shot a 686? I feel it pulling my heartstrings

Clockwork that can be fired.

Not a bad choice. I have a 1976 Ruger Security Six, and would never part with it.

You have a BA in marketing analytics but you're too stupid to figure out that you shouldn't blow a windfall immediately and in whole?

Put it in your savings account you dumb shortsighted kid. There will come a time when you'll wish you had.
>>
>>32732672
that's cool as shit, but I'd rather not spend that much money

>>32732703
>76 security six
Good taste

listen to this guy. Establish a savings. Start playing with money when you save up 3 months worth of pay.

>Anyone here owned or shot a 686? I feel it pulling my heartstrings

I owned a Smith Combat Magnum, it was a workhorse, shot sweet, but it ended up as part of a complicated trade for a M-1 Garand. I had other .357s, so I never really missed it.
>>
>>32732759
Alright I'll bite. I'm planning on spending $700 of $6,500, not even 11%, and that's not even considering the money I already have in my savings account (which plenty of the $6,500 will be going into). I think that's reasonable.
>>
>>32732508
>>32732669
You can get a nice over/under or side by side shotgun for $700ish, if you're looking for something pretty.

If you have your heart set on a revolver, get a Single Action Army clone, such as the Uberti Cattleman (pic related)

Had to look that one up; I now remember reading about them years ago, but have never seen one or a listing for sale. I'd guess they're pricey as they've been discontinued for 11-12 years.
>>
>>32732799

Meh, guns are always a good investment. I've made money on every gun I ever sold.

OP said he's using what's not being consumed by moving on a gun.

How is using the entirety of what's left over, the actual spendable portion of the bonus, not spending it immediately and in whole?

Maybe you should read my lips.
>>
>>32732860
Yup, I usually make a profit when I sell guns, bought a VZ for $400 and later sold it for $600, was a good day.

You think "plenty left over" of $6,500, with reference to additional money already in savings, is $700?
>>
>>32732529
>Ruger 10/22,

THIS

Other than time spent in the back seat with my first serious girlfriend, the most fun I ever had was a 10/22 and a brick of ammo down at the town dump with a couple buddies.

I think I saw a new 10/22 with a birch stock at my local gunshop for $229; with a brick and a couple extended mags and a sling, it'd be the best $300-350 you've ever spent.
>>
I recently picked up a surplus Romanian Tokarev for about $220, and it's a fucking kick and a half. It's louder than a 1911, and blows out an awesome fireball. Might buy another and a can of ammo for my bugout bag.
>>
Get the 686 anon. And dont listen to these faggotz s who cant seem to read
