In MW2 they still gave like 15% of a shit. Everything after that pretty much jumped the shark. WaW was the last decent CoD anyway.

I miss the days of games like CoD4. It sounds weird now, but it was a relatively down-to-earth FPS, which made it rather enjoyable. All the sequel escalation has thoroughly fucked up not just the CoD franchise, but military shooters in general. Too much sci-fi, too much focus on over-the-top setpieces, etc. Nowadays, the only shooters that maintain a pretense of realism are the hardcore indie milsim games. I just want a realistic-feeling shooter that I can play without thinking too much. I miss just being able to shoot Wehrmacht in France, or terrorists in some non-descript Middle Eastern country.

Honestly, Blops 2 had pretty decent multiplayer as long as you stuck to League Play or Gamebattles.
