I used to have a Tec-9 for this purpose, but nowadays carry around a Yugo AK pistol in .223. I only paid $400 for the Yugo so I wouldn't feel too bad having to use it and then losing it for a short time if I needed to in self-defense.

If you have an actual truck and live out in a rural area, you can't go wrong with a 336 or an M1 Carbine.

I've got a mossberg 500 and a P-64 that I keep in my truck and S&W M&P9c on my hop.

I'm thinking about swapping out the mossberg with my savage 93R17 and my P-64 with my Ruger Standard or Victory 22.
