Who makes the best level IIIA and below soft body armor/carrier?

Who makes the best level III/III+ body armor/carrier?

Who makes the best level IV body armor/carrier?
>>
For the first two, AR-500 apparently does some really nice, budget-priced but highly-effective rigs. Lots of people have put up excellent reviews on YouTube and other sites, and they're generally known as being great to do business with. I would get some of my own if I had my own property (and no questions like "Anon, why do you own this assault armor?!?!?!??").

http://www.ar500armor.com/plate-carriers/plate-carrier-packages-w-armor.html

Not sure about Level IV, though. I know they have Level IV armor on their site, but I haven't heard much about it. You planning to go on a deep raid into Monolith territory, Stalker?
>>
>>32714105
I'm surrounded by a city full of dark skinned criminals with illegal guns that regularly chant "KILL WHITE PEOPLE" online/in the streets while the police shrug and do nothing while Trump is about to become President.

I may get shot at in the near future and would like to survive getting hit by a bullet if that happens.

AR500 III+ lightweight with the extra paxcon coating and a trauma pad does seem to be the best overall from what I've seen. I know level IV is lighter and will stop everything, but how many ribs will be broken after it stops penetration and are there any non-THICC options?
>>
>>32714332
If I were you, I'd go with my gut. All of these will effectively stop pistol rounds, which are what in a defensive situation you would most likely encounter, along with all types of shot and most FMJ/AP rifle rounds up to and including .30-06.

Regardless of the color of a criminal's skin, I think that anything more than a soft vest would help in the case of a home invasion.

For pistol rounds, btw, I doubt you'll break any ribs on any of these plates. I'd be surprised if you dealt with any violence, to say less of coming across much beyond that.
>>
>>32714368
What's the rib breakage on level 1-3A soft body armor?

All seem to be roughly the same weight/concealability/stops pistol rounds but nothing else
>>
>>32714332
Pistol rifle or shotgun you will have minimal if any impact trauma with plate hits. This is more a concern of pistol shotgun and non-spitzer rifle rounds on Kevlar or other soft armor and even then not a huge deal compared with alternative
>>
>>32714403
If you watch the videos on YouTube for AR-500 armor, anyways, you'll see almost no dentage in the back of the plate, to say less of anything into the rear spalding, when service rounds are fired (9mm, .45, .40). Rifle cartridges are the ones that might break ribs, but even then only the stronger ones (.308, 7.62x54R, .243, etc) would do that.
>>
>>32714413
Yeah, if you get shot by a .308 or something you'll still be on the ground wheezing for a while, but it's way better than just kicking the bucket then and there.
>>
>>32714422
Theres actually a lot of dentage on level 1-3A soft armor but yeah the steel plates (above level 3A) look pretty safe with a trauma pad behind them to absorb the force. Does level 4 need a trauma pad or does ceramic absorb force well?
>>
>>32714403
Falls under least of your worries. If you're in that shit of an environment (used to live in Wilmington Delaware so I know) your best course of action is to move or save to move. In the process of doing so having a secure home, a reliable car, being aware, and a reliable cc are your next most important. I got my vest as a luxury and 2 is fine 3a goldflex is nice. Getting hit will hurt so hurt them back worse. But end goal move it is not worth living around ferals, commies, and retards who think either are ok
>>
>>32714440
Any idea how well trauma pads behind steel plates absorb the force of the round?
AR500 sells them for like $15 and they fit in the carriers well it looks like

Found this picture this morning, and obviously the first thing I noticed was how fucking rad that gear looks. Anyone have any idea what they're wearing specifically, or where I can find more pics of them?
>>
>>32714469
Of course moving is an option, but it takes time to save up sufficient jewpaper and to find a good job elsewhere
>>
>>32714440
Got hit with a 54r clearing a mud hut. I felt it but still standing after he got vented. Plates do a lot and the impact result varies.
>>
>>32714489
That's good! My buddy got nailed in the back by a Haji using a 7.62 NATO rifle once (probably a converted Mauser or something), but I don't think plates were so good back post-9/11.
>>
>>32714483
Looks like level III lightweight composite armor only available to police

Anyone know why this stuff isn't available to civilians? III+/IV stops more rounds anyway
>>
>>32714455
Ceramic is great except for needing to replace, steel is great except for weight and high speed low cal pen both tend to keep everything where it should be
>>
>>32714489
Did you have anything underneath the plate or did just the plain steel stop everything from the force to the penetrator?
>>
>>32714499
I had the esapi (level 4) he likely had sapi (level 3) both work great the esapi was just a thicker version to stop 30-06 ap in case it or an equivalent was floating around
>>
>>32714505
The new III+ plates seem to do very well at stopping high speed low weight rounds, including EPR 855A1 rounds.

So ceramic level IV is basically the best in every way from weight to rib breakage/dentage except thickness and need for replacement then?
>>
>>32714484
Debt snowball and work all the hours till you can improve. Sucks but worth it
>>
>>32714483
its riot gear they are fucking pads with plastic
>>
>>32714514
3a equivalent kevlar might have done some shock absorption but nothing marked and no bruises
>>
>>32714543
Essentially yes. I am looking at the plastic +ceramic composite plates for weight/durability for home use but that is a distant future consideration and have the steel sandwiched between 2 kevlar panels for now if needed
>>
>>32714565
Yeah 3A underneath will definitely absorb the force
>>
>>32714071
Why does this even exist? Armor is covered in gear queer general, they even have a pastebin of who makes good shit
>>
>>32714105
Which cut is best?
>>
>>32714597
Also never heard of anyone actually getting hit with just an unsupported plate so good luck getting objective info there. I have seen armor testing involving a guy wearing some kind of plate (no idea if standalone) taking a 308 to the chest with barely a flinch. So I can only guess the plate absorbs it for the most part
>>
>>32714725
Ive shot a plate that wasnt secured tightly

They move back with a lot of force when the bullet doesn't penetrate
>>
>>32714786
Hard to figure out how that translates to felt impact though. I mean an average kick to a 2 pound ball will move it violently. I am leaning towards it not being that bad even without the kevlar but worse than a jab

Already bought 11x14 plates.

Any suggestions for a carrier similar to the 3 in this picture? I mean a better value, better availability or straps or idk what.
>>
>>32714810
https://www.velsyst.com has some tight fitting carriers
>>
>>32715189
Thanks, the middle one in that pic is from them though.
>>
>>32714071
Don't buy AR500, shit is unreliable and has constant recalls.
You can easily get ceramics for cheap and a much nicer rig.
>>
>>32716011
Oops
>>
>>32716047
>unreliable
>constant recalls
Their youtube testers say otherwise. Noone gives away as much armor as them and then tells people to shoot through it with retarded specialty rounds/20 inch barrels
>>
>>32714071
after all the research, I'm just saying fuck it and getting a iiia carrier, LIII steel mains and sides, and side pouches and iiia inserts from bulletproofme and eating the cost before saving up against for thigh rigs and panels from them as well

after that it'll be a year of side-saving before I can get a rifle-rated helmet and all the doo-dads to turn it into a modern greathelm
>>
>>32714071

Generals probably shouldn't be asking advice in their first post faggot.
>>
>>32714501
It is available, as long as you got the funds for them.
It's been a while but I saw some level III+ lightweight composite plates going for $300 a plate. The composite plates would weigh in at around 2 lbs a plate while the comparable AR500 plate would come in at 8 lbs and costing around $100 per plate.
Mobility comes at a high premium I guess.
>>
>>32717789
Are bulletproofme's IIIa soft armor pieces better than AR500s?
>>
>>32719848
AR500 upped the strength of their steel and thus reduced the weight with their new III+ plates (around 6lbs now i think) for about $115

Armour wear and their ar680 11x14 plates with trauma pads..put them in a minimalist carrier like tactical tailor
>>
>>32720162
Well, they are getting better however 6 lbs vs 2 lbs is still a factor for mobility.
>>
>>32719848
>Mobility comes at a high premium
absolutely correct
>>
>>32720506
>>32719848
Where can you get III+ lightweight composite?
>>
>>32720506
I'm an autist when it comes to the choice between mobility and being a human tank, I almost always pick tank.
>>
>>32720439
Their plates look THICC af
>>
>>32714105
>>32714705
Welcome to /k/
>yeah, I don't have one but online reviews are good, I have no actual experience but here's my opinion
Fuck off.
>>
>>32725126
it's the splatter shield they use as coating, built up like a motherfucker
>>
>>32725459
I like AR500s build up coating better

As long as that shit is intact, the plates are good for like 20+ years. It's literally an airtight vaccuum sealed casing that also happens to catch shrapnel

That's just pieces of metal painted red

I mean, it could be 500 steel, but we have no idea what it got shot with or what the setup was
