The absolute madmen Ian and Carl continue their hard hitting questions at the 2017 shot show, this time with Colt and their $2500 A1 reproductions.

Ian's smugness annoys me but they're doing great things at Shot Show. Good to put the flame to their feet
>>
I like that they asked the question but they acted like know-it-alls afterward. Come on. Yes, I am sure you are smarter than the whole Colt management and marketing teams.

A limited run is a cool thing to do for collectors and it helps get publicity for your other projects. Also, it may even be more profitable. If they are making a grand on each gun instead of 200, then they might have estimated the demand for a 1700 dollar gun wouldn't be five times as much.
>>
>>32705414
t. Colt Management
>>
>>32705414
Yah they remind me of people who never served in the military, so it's like they constantly have to act pompous and overbearing to makeup for their inexperience. I still enjoy their channel, but the autism is a bit much at times
>>
>>32705479
Sorry state slave they haven't served in the military and in no way is that a bad thing.
>>
>>32705510
Oh I know. I'm not one to make a big deal out of someone not serving, I just think that makes them, specifically Ian need to overcompensate with knowledge and smugness. When he tested the M14 I got the vibe like he wanted to shove it in all the Nam vets faces. Just my opinion and observation watching his channel.
>>
>>32705532
I think you sound like an insecure faggot and that's probably why you remind people on a uganadan claymation instant message room that you served

>it is expensive to tool up for the reproductions
>arbitrarily limit production instead of using the economics of scale to reduce the cost of manufacturing

No fucking wonder colt is failing.
>>
>>32705551
You're the one all buttblasted over a minor opinion on an annoymous Cambodian Clay Pot collectors board
>>
I hate that man so fucking much.
>>
>>32705592
The rumor is they're using milsurp M16A1 kits rather than tooling up to make new parts and furniture. If it's true the limited production makes sense, though it's shitty because they're charging a massive markup.
>>
>KKKarl being a smug know-it-all cock sucker.
Whoa, who'd have thought?
>>
>>32705276
You know, why are SP1s so relatively inexpensive?
>>
>>32705662
I don't see how they could pull it off.

Are they going through the trouble to finish all these parts?

That would be a hassle but it could be done, the furniture however would be nigh impossible. Even the nicest surplus a1 furniture still shows use.
>>
>>32705276
>the rep's eyes at 3:58
i cant breathe
>>
>>32705717
Its not that SP1's are really cheap, more that colt is just trying to price gouge.

Friend in AZ linked me a guy selling a bunch of SP1 police surplus uppers, guy still has a bunch months later.

You can build a A1 clone for less than $1000 with new off the shelf parts, though nodak spud is super backordered.
>>
>>32705788
The uppers were $550, forgot to mention.

Kinda want to get one but I am not comfortable spending $550+ shipping on parts for a project right now.
>>
>>32705612
>accuse person calling you out of thing you did and try to use their meme against them

lol how much do you talk about the military IRL and how long have you been out
>>
>>32705878
I talk about it all the time to trigger faggots like you. It's clearly working. Ian is a condescending little shit. I enjoy the channels but his experiences don't justify his attitude
>>
>>32705338
CIDF go away.
>>
>>32705592
Another guy that thinks economies of scale happen at levels that small

When you ramp up production, your overhead goes up, too.

Economies of scale only come into play when you actually have a massive scale.
>>
>>32705788
Well, they usually only hover around $1,500. That's pretty cheap for a 'pre-ban' gun.
>>
>>32705955
I've been ragging on Colt all day, but there's been about 2 or 3 threads already and they're still on the board.
>>
>>32705532
Well the thing about faggot ass veterans is that THEY are know-it-alls. Just because you use something, doesn't mean you're an expert on it.
>>
desu I don't know why people are so triggered by this

Want more functionality? Build something without an A1 fsb/p

Want retro but can't pay $2k

Buy Fulton Armory

Want colt roll mark
Buy colt

If it's too much for you, I guess the colt roll mark isn't worth it to you and that is totally fine
>>
>>32705996
t. Ian. At least if he served he could grow a decent beard instead of that Shang Tseung shit he's rocking unironically
>>
>>32706063
Or you can buy a blank 80% and get the rollmark engraved. That's a fairly popular thing to do.
>>
Why does Colt even exist anymore again? They make nothing but 1911s, SAAs and AR-15s, all of which you can better and cheaper from other countries.
>>
>>32706172
*other companies
>>
>>32706172
like Karl said, they are like the Apple of the gun world.
muh brand name
muh logo
>>
>>32706141
Not Ian, just someone who knows what they're talking about unlike dumb grunts who like to shoot their mouths off.
>>
>>32705996

Yeah I was surprised by just how little my step brother from the army actually knew about the Army. He insisted that the OH-58D has never been in Army service, even after I showed him pictures of the fuckin thing. He also claimed he had machine guns fired at him in training and that a few people died from getting shot.
>>
>>32706192
Apple made good shit up until this decade, though. Colt hasn't made anything interesting IN decades.
>>
>>32705276
Colt pls just stick to making 6720s and don't make your middies ridiculously priced.
>>
>>32706203
You're just like Ian. You need to compensate with your "knowledge". What a fucking pleb.
>>32706211
>Everyone in the military doesn't automatically know every aspect of every MOS like /k/ basement dwellers
Kek. You fuckers are insufferable sometimes I swear.
>>
>>32706232
You do realize there's a difference between "not knowing something" and "not knowing something and yet making claims about it anyway"?
>>
>>32706232
>being ignorant is cool
Milfags everyone.
>>
>>32705276

Will this be CA compliant? I will buy one if it is.
>>
>>32706275
You do realize that you don't always get alot of experience with equipment outside of YOUR MOS, and most guys don't want to spend their offftime studying or learning about equipment outside of their MOS. Everyone in the military isn't an autistic sperglord like you faggot
>>
>>32706345
how about you use that $2500 to get the fuck out of California instead
>>
>>32706366

I'll pay extra to get this made into CA compliant. I really like what Colt is doing with this rifle.
>>
>>32706366
This. I don't know how any /k/ommandos could live there, even if firearms are only a small part of your life, Californians are shit
>>
>>32706345
>>32706381
>will this be CA compliant
Prior to 2017, there might have been a slim chance that a retailer would offer boolit buttons for you

But since your even crazier new laws made the ballot and were voted into law there is zero chance of that happening given how hard it is to comply
>>
>>32706393

I mean, they could just make this thing bolt action just for us. CA is a huge market still.
>>
>>32705276

>Colt is overcharging for their rollmark.

Big fucking surprise. Why are you talking about this likes it's news? Colt has been overcharging on all their firearms for well over a decade.
>>
>>32706417
It's a thread where they're being called on their shit. This isn't a Colt thread but an Ian being the Autist we need thread

>>
>>32706354
I didn't say they have to know about it, fuckface. They just have to learn to shut the fuck up when they don't know about something.
>>
>>32705479
>Yah they remind me of people who never served in the military, so it's like they constantly have to act pompous and overbearing to makeup for their inexperience.
what the fuck
>>
>>32706487
Yah I'm sure you're 100% about everything ALL THE TIME. The irony.
>>
>>32705979
I wasn't aware the they were $1500, I thought they were $1200-$1300 ish, must have been thinking about the a2's.

I think the SP1's also have the odd size takedown pins because even in the 60-70's colt wanted to make my life hell.
>>
>>32706501
Just an opinion anon no need to get assblasted
>>
>>32706542
Colt didn't start with the odd-sized take down and trigger pin thing until 1994.
>>
>>32706381
>>32706366
>>32706393

I would think that the conversion kits where the action has to open to drop the mag would work with this. So, a dealer could convert it I think.
