Anyone else kind of bored with the their Luger?
Mine just sits in a display case next to my dresser, gathering dust. Every once in a blue moon I take it out and put a few rounds through it, but that's starting to lose it's merit in terms of fun.
Sure there's historical value, but I'm starting to not care that much about that. Tons were made and tons are still floating around for relatively the same price they've been for the last two decades.
Might sell mine, pocket the cash, and buy something else that doesn't have historical value.

It's one of the earliest instances of Kraut space magic. Aesthetically appealing and unique, with a almost unique operating system. It's also associated with the nazis just as much as the p38 because it was fielded in large numbers.

Because stormfags are nazis. Or at least like to pretend they are.

Its interesting from a historical standpoint, and a technical standpoint. Its a weapon made infamous by the Nazis, having served on the bad guys' side in WWII. Toggle lock in something you don't see everyday, and the Luger does it well enough to be viable.

So yeah, its a cool gun. I've never fired one, but I don't get going absolutely crazy for it.

Historically important gun and an interesting inbetween in weapon technology development.

Incidentally, post ww1 Germany did have limitations of all types of weapons including Lugers. The ban was subverted somewhat in various ways, including keeping large storages of parts. Once Germany stopped accepting the military bans - 1935 iirc - they put the parts together into complete weapons.

Technically the classic Luger was obsolete even by the start of ww1 and it certainly was by the start of ww2. But they had loads of them stocked up and supplied them to their troops until they ran out - there is possibly no other nations who have had so many different sidearms and other weapons used by their forces in any war we can think of. This because the enemy's gear was swiftly put to use by themselves - even uniforms.
