My first 10/22. I overpaid, spent years trying to find ammo (and generally failing), and it's not one that I like looking at or shooting. But selling it would be a PITA and I'd take a bath on it overall. It's not a bad gun--merely one I don't enjoy.

I've bought quite a few guns resulting from hours of shit I read online which leads me to believe I want "x" gun so I can fulfill "y" niche so I can be prepared for any possible situation, only to find that it wasn't what I was looking for and I would benefit far more from ammo and practice and I would get more fulfillment if I bought more for fun. I've always wanted to cover any and all situations with one gun, rather than just learn to do one or two things really well and be ok with not knowing everything. I've always sold at a loss because I try not to be a greedy man. Some of these purchases that come to mind were my Savage Hog Hunter .308, my PTR 91, a G29, Mossberg 590A1 and a couple of plain jane ARs. Now I've got my grandfathers guns which I inherited, a really nice AR and just a couple of others. Now I just want an M40A1 look Alike and a Fulton armory M1 carbine and I'll be pretty satusfied

I'm kind of regretting my sporter Krag purchase. Trying to find an original handguard for an 1898 with a 1901 sight is infuriating. I got sniped on eBay, bought a handguard that was labeled wrong by the seller and I didn't notice the difference (it's for an 1896 sight) an for now I can't find handguards under like $120. My first. Mossberg 464

I was no guns and wasn't prepared for how much a .30-30 kicks.

Back in the 2013 panic buy I did a real stupid thing.

Sell Lancaster Rough Rider for twice as much as I paid (500 so 1000 or so) - smart
Buy Arsenal SLR107 krinkov-foundation (not SBR'd, would have to SBR it) because no 5.45 was available at the store
Decide I don't like 7.62 vs 5.45 and sell it for pretty much as much as I paid
Decide for future-proofing against an AWB I buy....a pistol, because that makes sense. I guess I hedge bet on AWB not passing or something. So I buy with that money a P226 - new, not used. Lovely gun, pretty much means I never need to buy a new pistol except for a CCable one for the forseeable future and shit, I could technically CC my grandpappy's PPK if not for risk of it being taken in an investigation if I had to shoot my CCW.

So my regret is selling SLR107 when it now goes for twice as much as I paid. I don't regret P226 but I would buy it used if I was re-doing it. I don't know why the fuck I decided to hedge against gun control by buying a fucking pistol instead of a rifle, the obvious solution would be buy a rifle and if poorfag buy a few mags of the pistol I want to get later.

Basically for any poorfags during a gun panic, which shouldn't happen for the next 4 and hopefully 8 years, think real hard before you sell a gun at a higher markup. I regret re-sellign the SLR107 more than the lancaster since I made a double profit on it, but I regret selling lancaster too since it's meant I am sitting on 900 rounds of I think 7n6 ammo since 2013 with nothing to fire it.

Stoeger coach gun. I wanted it for no other reason than badass short double barrel shotgun. I loved the way it handled, and how small it was, then I shot it. The break action is so goddamn stiff I ended up having to break it over my knee to get it open, after several shooting trips. I literally bought a dremel for no other reason than to follow a guide I found online on how to smooth up the action, and then figured "oh well now I own a dremel, I'm sure I'll use it for plenty of other things".

I basically spent $400 to buy myself a dremel. Still haven't used it because all the ranges around me suck and I'm sick of them, so I've been less motivated to shoot lately.

hurr-durr. Let's see, a .30-30 is about on par with the ballistics of the Soviet 7.62x39 round.

Most .30-30 rounds are 125gr - 170gr. The 7.62x39 is ~123gr or so.

I'm not going to do your ballistics homework for you, but if you research, you will see both are very close in performance.

It's a tie between my mossy 590a1 and Ruger American ranch in 300 blackout.

590a1 overpriced compared to a 500 and I don't like ghost ring sights on a shotty. Front need with a fiber optic sight in front is best sight.

My Ruger American ranch is primer sensitive. I believe ammo seated with #400 primers are gtg. Harder primers in Hornady and barns are to hard. The best shooting loads I can't use...>:(

My Shield.

One day I took one of my magazines down for cleaning and found the spring had completely folded in on itself. I tried to untangle it back into place and it ended up cutting up my finger pretty badly. After weeks of waiting and 3 separate phone calls to customer service, my replacement springs arrived in the mail. I sold the gun soon after at my LGS because of the terrible experience I got from their reps.

I wanted to give S&W a second chance and get an M&P 45, but that escapade really turned me off from their products in general.

P-64.
Even with a stiffer recoil spring and a lighter hammer spring it's unpleasant to shoot.
It's like it was designed by someone who had never seen human hands. The grip is too long front to back, but too short top to bottom to get a good grip. Add in the fact that it's narrow as fuck and it absolutely beats the hell out of you hand when you shoot it. If you try and choke up on it with a good high grip for better control the slide will bite the ever-living shit out of you.

It's an attractive and reliable little pistol at least so I'm going to keep it, but it doesn't get range time.

This bitch right here. A Para-ordnance LDA p14.

A gun that has no sense whatsoever: full size 1911-like design, but with a dual stack mag and a DA only trigger. Made up almost entirely by non-standard 1911 parts which are hard to find (especially in italy) due to the full size model going OoP a few years before I bought it.

The trigger group in particular was something that would put kraut space magic to shame. Extremely complex to disassemble. Putting it back together required punches, pliers and 4 hands to hold all the springs in place and matching the pin holes together.

Not to mention that it started having problems almost right out the box. When dropping the slide on an empty chamber the action would often completely jam, locking itself in place, rendering you unable to pull the trigger, cock the hammer manually or pull the slide back (the only way to un-fuck things up was a complete disassembly of the trigger group).
>>
>>32697719

My regrets are what I didn't buy.

I could've gotten a WASR and a Carbon 15 for the price of an average AR nowadays. Also, wish I got a Saiga. Was too ignorant to forsee the import ban.

A few years back could've had a blued Colt Cobra from the 70s for $430, but I was too young for handguns.

Overall, even though gun prices weren't great around this time, they're better than now. I just stuck to getting great with my Mossberg 500 and saving whatever didn't go towards bills, gas, and food because my job didn't pay much and I wanted to move onto bigger things.

Not really. Just how to seems after all the hindsight and AR saturation. It was battle rifle, not a dmr or precision shooter. The effective range is fine, they groups just aren't what we would want them to be NOW where everything is expected to be under 2moa, especially for the price.

That being said, from what I've seen building a mechanically accurate FAL seems to require a fair amount of voodoo

Are those for a punt gun? Goddamn I wanna at least see one of those go off. Paper cartridge?
> Shot a a5 shot gun with slugs and buck.
> No ide why anyone thinks shotguns have kick
.
A5 felt like nothing because of the recoil system

Something like a Winchester 101 or a Browning Maxxus has a bit more thump.

Although I digress, I don't think 12ga is bad at all either, I can shoot that shit all day. Haven't shot a slug yet though..... I will this weekend!

The Critical Dooty from Hornady hits just fine

.45 isn't a meme, it works, just like .40. Otherwise there wouldn't be so many people (including Military members on tour) would opt to use them.

It's just that there's really not a significant advantage to either, and 9mm just edges out the others in almost every way.

The important thing is get what you want. I'd suggest 9mm if you only have a .45 because 9mm is MUCH cheaper than the others.

It wasn't a bad firearm outside of the plastic lower, but it just wasn't an actual AR180 so the magic died off pretty quick and I only shot maybe 200 rounds though it before I sold it.
>>
>>32709365

Not my actual gun, don't have it yet :(

But it should be roughly this.

If you want one, Southern Ohio Gun has them for roughly $250 OTD. Police magnums sell for double that on gunbroke and you're getting these pretty much straight from some jail somewhere

P64

It's heavy.
The trigger is heavy.
The safety is stiff.
It pinched me.
Double action trigger is about 25 lbs.
Magazine release is on the bottom.
It's manlier than I am and it makes me insecure.
Only 6 rounds in magazine.
Blowback for maximum recoil.
Ancient as shit, maybe it will explode next time I shoot it.
Ammunition not stocked in local stores.

I own the exact same make and model made just a little later except it's a family heirloom.
My grandfather bought it and hunted with it, my dad learned to shoot with it and later competed with it, and it was my first shotgun and I killed my first dove with it.

Pic very related: my family has lived out the advertisement for this gun.

I know you want to keep it as an investment, but it is a great shotgun that will literally put food on the table for generations. You should take it out in the field and use it the way it was meant to be used, and honestly if you can't or won't I think you should sell it. It's worthy of being a cherished heirloom full of memories and if it's just an asset I think you should sell it to someone who will put it to better use.

The plastic lower is really the only thing bad about the 180b outside of the really heavy trigger. Like I said I've only fired like 200 out of mine before I sold but it didn't malfunction once.

Maybe the Lee-Enfield No 4 Mk1.

My dad asked me to pick out a rifle to buy me at a gun show once and I chose this. When we got it home and went to clean all of the grease and dirt off of it, it turned out the stock of the rifle was a very different type of wood than the rest. I was minimally bummed that it was not matching, but it was a service rifle so not bad.

It's not a bad rifle at all, just the rounds are expensive and I have other modern and WW2-era guns to shoot too that take much cheaper ammo.

The last time that I had it out though, the brass case did get stuck in the chamber and needed a cleaning rod to tap it out. It's likely my fault for not cleaning it though.

This is as close as I can come to regretting a purchase.

Bought a taurus 605 at dealer cost through my friends ffl, ($260 at the time). Absolutely hated that fucking gun. I bought 2 boxes of ammo with it (1 box American Eagle. 357 and 1 box blazer .38) I owned it for almost 4 years and when I sold it I gave the new owner a half box of each. That's how little I enjoyed shooting it. Sold it for $350 so #winning.

My 1939 Mosin Nagant, don't get me wrong it works but its like an old car, its reliable but not performance. I wanted to get the Finnish Version but my shop was misinformed on the origin of the rifle and I was too trusting, soviet stamped so the quality was obviously much lower and it was missing part of the Nagant tool. $175, I should have gotten a Kar98 or Type 38.

Thanks for hearing me out on the Browning. I hope you bag some birds this fall.

As for the Marlin, what configuration is it?
If it's an octagonal barreled model then fuck yeah, but if it's one of the common round barreled ones with the short magazine tube or one of the stainless ones then ehhhh...

I like the classics and the aesthetics of the old style rifles are important to me (plus the octagonal barreled ones are more valuable and it'd be a good deal which is what I think you were really asking).

An ATI 1911 Officer.

Felt great in the store, decent trigger too. Take it to the range recoil spring assembly explodes on the 150th round jamming the pistol. Replace with a colt spring assembly said to fix the issue..1 out of 20 rounds stove pipes and brass shoots directly in face.
Fix extractor eith replament still jamming once and awhile no matter the mag or ammo type.

After 600 rounds see that the frame is being badly chipped away next to the ejector and breach face from brass hitting it. Read up and see others eith the same issue from weak metal frames

Sell the gun the next day, lost 100 bucks cause of colt spring and extractor.

Tied with this gun tho is the rock Island 1911 GI. It was only bad because I bough it second hand off arms list. It almost killed my friend.

The guy before me played gun smith and did work on the sear and sear spring and said nothing. When my buddy put in a mag and racked it, the hammer felt and the gun went off and it went full auto. The safety knotch did nothing. It was my first 1911 many years ago and I didn't do the tests one should do to test the hammer and safeties when buying a 1911. Thank God he was pointing it down range, but it almost took off this finger.

First and last time I'll ever buy a used 1911. And still have trust issues with 1911s to this day.

Not the guy you are replying to but it's an OK brand. I got the 1911 GI CS and it does the job fine.
>>
>>32711350
No the stock GI models are a decent entry value 1911. They let you learn the platform and as long as you toss the factory mags and use chip or Wilson, and Polish the feed ramps you can have a nice cheap range 45. I'd never trust my life to them, or buy thier upgraded expensive ones (just get a kimber or Remington or sig for that price) and have a much nicer gun.

But never buy these cheap ones used cause 1911 noobs buy them and try to work on them and fuck them up.
