First for best rifle configuration of the best battle rifle
>>32687955

Can't wait to get mine installed
>>32687955
What's wrong with the para stock?
>>32687899
is he /ourguy/?
>>32687976
It's heavier than the standard stock, doesn't have any storage, and isn't as comfortable.
>but I also live in CA, so fuck me
its good to bring friends
With Trump as president will we see an import ban lift and we can get svt 40s for $300 like in leafland?
>>32688123
That is what has been said, yes
>7n6
>Asian M1's
>Kalashnikovs
All will come
>>32685534
I just. I can't deal.
The AR system would be most suited to higher calibers, the higher the caliber the more it makes sense. Yet it is at its production-best in the small, small, 5.56mm. The various short and long piston systems would mitigate their negatives the most in a small, intermediate caliber but instead dominate the Full Power Rifle scene.
I just fucking can't deal with it.
>>32685968
I think it's a pretty rifle, anon.
>>32687994
He's as close to /ourguy/ as we can reasonably expect.
I wouldn't hold my breath for 922(o) getting repealed, for example.
>>32688123
depends if he's willingly tell the neocucks to go fuck themselves. mccain, graham, rubio, ryan, mcconnell and probably some other cucks staying quiet.
>>32684147
Beefed?
Is the PTR warranty good?
>>32687899
PTR 91.
I like that.
>>32688997
Of course I mean in GENERAL
>>32689001
>Tfw Trump open carries a battle rifle to his inauguration
Who has the best deal for a PTR-91 nowadays?
>>32689207
Slickguns
>>32687955
It's not the best battle rifle though.
It's not even the best pattern of FAL
>>32688123
St. Mattis said Russia is dangerous and Putin is delusional.
>>32688208
I'm sure I understand how the AR design is best suited for wide bullets.
>>32689082

>>32690778
>spending more on wood than the metal
its pretty though
>>32691222
Not really. A good kit will run you $450+ and the IWD furniture set is about $250. Also, figure you'll be spending money on 922r parts anyway. If you are replacing the furniture anyway, then you are effectively only spending about $200 extra to get wood.
>>32691339
ya know kits were under a hundred buck not long ago?
>>32691483
$89 kits went the way of the dodo like 12-14 years ago
>>32691483
>>32691507
Kits are drying up. That's why the price of admission is so high. Most young people don't even know what an FAL is.
>>32691528
The cost isnt that high, higher than it was, but its still not expensive.
>>32691507
>>32691528
ok parts were still around till sandy vag for 2-3 bills
and FALs, while cool, are outdated
May you elect a conservative who'll get shit done and who won't be afraid to stand up to the mounties.
May you have him make G3s, AK-pattern BRs and FALs NR like they should be.
Blessed be your holy name Kek.
>>32691569
>outdated
Strong language, but okay.
>>32691582
Fucking leafs
>>32691596
He is right though
Can I get a FAL to MOA without completely sacrificing reliability a la M14 or should I just get a G3?
>>32691828
Its a lot of trouble to do so, just because so many things in the design don't really lend themselves to highly precise shooting.
Magazine pressure on the bolt, handguards clamped to the barrel, etc aren't super condusive to accuracy.
>>32691828
Possible. Isnt going to affect reliability.
Need a thicc as fuck barrel, like need a izzy HB gas block thick.
Your going to need to download your magazines, the first few rounds put too much pressure on the bolt compared to after its half empty.
A super rigid handguard.
>>32691607
1MOA and 3 pounds, but half the price. Yep, it's complete shit.
>>32691853
>>32691880
Hmmm. Could custom magazines help with that pressure without impacting capacity?
>>32691921
Your going to need to explain that if you want to be understood
>>32691940
Could run 30 round magazines, only load 20. The problem is how springs apply pressure.
>>32691940
Just get a SCAR brah.
No guns here. Is the AR10 a good BR?
>>32691979
Some are
Whats your budget
>>32691985
1.5k, but if I wait it can be 2k. I might just get an AR15 chambered in .308
>>32687955
That's not an L1A1
>>32691997
Id check out the new savage lineup.
>>32691997
all AR10s are just AR15s in 308
>>32692016
No, all AR15s are just AR10s in intermediate calibers.
>>32690639
Portuguese. Liscenced. HK. G3s.
>>32692034
This is factually incorrect unless talking about the actual AR-10, not modern .308 ARs.
>>32692060
So most AR10s are just AR15s which are just AR10s then, if you want to be pedantic.
>>32691940
The provlem that you run into is that to feed reliably, the FAL magazine has to pretty mucb push the bullets right up against the underside of the bolt.
This makes it so that, as you run through the magazine, the pressure on the bolt starts to get progressively lower, which means your bolt isn't locking up the exact same way every time since the magazine and rounds are applying less and less force as you burn through a mag.
Getting really rigid handguards would probably do more for you in terms of accuracy than fretting with the bolt.
>>32692076
All current AR10s have scaled up AR15 parts
>>32687899
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDy_HWGR9iE&t=4s
>>32692034
wrong
Current 308 ARs have nothing in common with AR10s
>>32692102
wouldnt removing the handguards, piston, and magazine and single loading hte rounds be objectively the most accurate then?
>>32692113
incorrect.

>>32692146
small frame .308 ARs
take your pick
>>32692158
so what you're saying is the 1 or 2 308 ARs on the market are proprietary and nothing like AR10s
Gotcha
>>32692136
I guess, but then why buy a FAL? If you want to preserve the function, then rigid handguards are the way to go.
Alternatively, just look at what Ireland has done with their DMR FALs.
>>32692157
You can get a .308 AR for like $700
>>32692180
lolno
>>32692165
>proprietary
There are like three or four companies making them, and they all are ARs that shoot .308 rounds, so exactly like AR10s
>>32692189
You need to shop around.
>>32692168
>but then why buy a FAL?
Because when I want accuracy I can do that and then when I want an FAL I can put it all back on
>>32692191
but with zero AR10 parts and a whole bunch of AR15 parts
Gotcha
>>32692222
and you lost me
>>32691958
I like that there's going to be a SCAR lower that mimics the FAL magwell.
>>32692239
>aftermarket trigger housings
>>32692239
I really like the idea of the half magwell on my FAL
Allows me to slap the mag down on it then slam it in
I've always wanted something like that with an AR or other straight in gun
>>32692234
Current .308 ARs are upscaled AR15s and not built from the original AR10 specs. Which is why there were many variants that weren't compatible with each other.
Why does this general go from 0 to 100 instantly? It's dead until someone starts shit and then everyone comes out REEEEEEEEing.
>>32692260
Current .308 ARs are based on the SR25, designed by Eugene Stoner. Which is based on the M16, designed by Eugene Stoner. Which is based on the AR10, designed by Eugene Stoner.
>>32692274
The SCAR is definitely an SKS because it has a piston and was designed like the FAL which was designed like the SKS
I'm glad we're all fucking retarded here
>>32692293
>>32692272
What's that stock? The one DSA sells civvies looks different.
Also why is it so ugly?

They took a FAL and told it to be an AR10, which may or may not also make it an AR15.
>>32692371
Thanks.
>>32692383
Why don't they just use AR10s?
>>32692471
That was DSAs "submission" to the SASS trials. A bunch of companies submitted examples with no hope of succeeding, just to aid their marketing.
>>32692482
Ah. A shame they didn't at least make it recognizable as a FAL. Pretty sure anyone buying one prefers aesthetics to quadrails.
>>32692539
How is it not recognizable as an FAL?
>>32692582
The AESTHETICS are gone. I mean, you can identify it but...
>>32692621
50.00 never had much to begin with
50.61 on the otherhand....
Actually guys,
if someone did make a way to make the SCAR look like the FAL (its lineage), I would be pretty happy. I could probably get a fucking AR10 mocked up too look like a FAL, so I don't see why making the SCAR fit in a FAL A E S T H E T I C would be impossible.
I mean, I'm already spending 4k on a rifle. Might as well spend more.
>>32692674
Hope you like pouring money into one off projects.
>>32692674
Why not just put a FAL forend, grip, and stock on an AR10 and call it good?
>>32692674

$800 for a shitty proprietary AR10 with no sights and probably no magazine. With a shitty 16 inch barrel and budget parts likely pieced together.
Or $900 for for a PTR 91 with sights, a mag (And mags for $3), in-house parts production, parts compatibility and a match grade 18" barrel.
AR10s are badass, but budget AR10s are trash.

Replacement parts won't just vanish and become unavailable after 5-10 years.
Costs less than five large. Lower is always better.

Basically, it can effect when the rollers release the bolt back to let the action cycle. If it starts to be an issue, you'd probably start getting failures. If it just suddenly swung way out of spec, you can get out of battery kabooms. For decent G3 clones, it's not really an issue. For shit such as Century, they decided to grind down the back of bolts to create the "proper" gap rather than actually use correctly fitting pieces.
In my last post, I mentioned that it's not a bad idea to check every thousand rounds or so. Even with good builds, this just makes sure everything is still in spec, basically like checking head spacing. If you do start getting issues, it's generally a pretty easy fix just by swapping out the rollers for a different size.

Ah, so it was mostly just grumbling. I was a little worried there.
Thank you very much.

Genuinely considering selling my StG-58 build to fund one of those Troy GAU-5 replicas. I don't know what to do
I'm so confused

How is it not? There are tons of quality optics available for that much or alittle less. It really depends on what type you want

Breddy gud; you win a cookie. Nice K model.
>>32702506
It's one of the older models without the paddle mag release but it looks like you got some good accessories with it. I'd say you did pretty well.
>>32702506
That stock alone is worth 300 bucks. I paid 950 for my GI K model.
If I ever get a SBR stamp/or if NFA gets nerfed, I want to get the 8 inch PDW model and add that stock to it.

I will, well.
Was going to after I got something for the SCAR.
Been holding my breath for Mk20, no joy this year. Think MWS is going to need to step it up to DMR, get a creedmoor barrel 20-24". Put an ATACR on it.
So any word on Mormon Bullpup?

I'm not sure why but I think the STG is the sexiest assault rifle ever made. It's a god damn shame the only reproductions that aren't garbage are like $5K aside from the GSG but it's only a 22.
>>32704485
GSG is superhotgarbage.
HMG one is fine, if you are supautist, you can buy a few cheap genuine parts like a dust cover. It is fine.
>>32704438
After two years of waiting, I am giving up. I bought the MWS knowing that my dreams would never happen, had to settle for second place.

Not unless you've got a SCAR and an SR25 ACC hiding somewhere.
what are the pros and cons of cast vs forged receivers?
>>32706208
Cast receivers are less expensive, but heavier than forged and have a shorter service life than forged ones (not that you'll ever shoot enough .308 for it to matter)

Ill take my ar10 ssass over an sr25.

I've heard bad things about this ammo. Supposedly their brass is thinner than everyone else's.
>>32709070
Its not a safety issue. ZQI is perfectly decent m80 ball ammo. You might get marginally fewer reloads using the brass.
>>32709070
>Supposedly their brass is thinner than everyone else's.
There isn't a brand of .308 out there which hasn't had that aspersion cast on it. It's fine.
What PTR furniture color denotes a willingness to engage in homosexual relations?
The FAL is obvious, Rhodieboo camo, but I can't figure out the PTR.

Well, if you're looking for the similar racist option, I'd say the south african furniture.
What's the best way to attach a (modern) sling and white light to a G3?

>>32710299
Are you retarded?
>>32710367
>not owning guns for aesthetics
ar10 or ptr, /brg/?
barring aesthetics, what differences are there in accuracy, ease of repair/maintenance, operation, ect for both?
G3s give me a rager but I'm not going to buy a gun just because it looks good, and I also have the added bonus of having family in the gun business who could help build an ar, be it from parts or milled out.
>>32710505
A good AR will be better in just about all of those categories. The PTR will still be a good rifle and will be more fun though.
Assuming I don't want a gucci 3000$ ar10, how much would I end up putting down on a build?
I imagine it wouldn't be as cheap as a 15, which I've nearly hit 500 with, but should I expect to be dropping 900-1000$ on a mid-tier barebones gun?
