>>
Anon this thread is a knockoff
>>
It'll be the worlds only operational multi role 5th gen carriar capable fighter after Trump pulls the plug on the F35 and has Lockheed asset stripped to line his pockets.
>>
>>32678657
It will also provide chinese carriers with a new advanced smokehouse to conserve food better.

the first 5th gen smokehouse, truly the pinnacle of chinese engineering.
>>
>>32678792
why are you still posting the demonstrator with shitty russian engine?

superior chinese engines on production-type does not smoke anymore.
>>
>>32678962

yeah it it looks like this now, a lot more control surfaces, different cockpit, wings and tail

The engines weren't smoking like the first one either >>32678792

But I can't find the link on me right now, it looked like either newer RD-93s or an improved indigenous WS-13Es
>>
>>32679023
There was doubts that Shenyang could even get the FC-31 project going for so long, as the PLAAF did not show any interest in it and it was entirely self-funded.

Can it use the meme-missile?

This is most important.
>>
>>32679029
For smokeless engines there are two options: Either import Russian RD-33MK or the WS-13E.

But so far, we have not heard anything about Russian RD-33MK sales to China, so I guess it's the WS-13E.
>>
>>32679122
Not to mention that the RD-33MK wouldnt fit in the J-31 either, since it has its gearbox not on the bottom, as required for the airframe.

China would need the prospective RD-93MK for that matter.

>Superior chinese engine
Kek
>>
>>32679157
One smokes, the other doesnt.

Enough evidence of superiority.
>>
>>32679116
No, it cannot carry DF-21s
>>
>>32679033
It would be dumb to not get it and navalize it, they need it fast because catapult carriers are coming to the fleet faster than they could develop something new, what's the alternative, a navalizd J-20 or continuing using old slavshit? Dont make me laugh.
>>
>>32679163
The WS-13E?
Isn't that the brand new chinese engine that gets outperformed by the 30 years old EJ2000 and F119?
You consider that """Superior"""?

WS-13E isnt brand new either.

Try WS-19, or the New Medium Thrust Engine.

.
>>
>>32679176
Oh look it's this fag again,
>>
>>32679176
You do realize that the wikipedia page you cite shows the specifications (and T/W ratio) of the standard WS-13 with 86.37 KN, right?

The WS-13E has a maximum thrust of 90 kilonewtons.

Calculating the T/W of the WS-13E, assuming that the weight stays same, the ratio would be around 8.2:1, or quite similiar to the M88 of the Rafale.
>>
>>32679176
To the secondhand Russian trash on the first prototype? Yes.

To anything in use in any country that isn't China? Pfft.
>>
>>32679232
That's fantastic, 8,2 is a fantastic T/W ratio, you only took 30 years to design a similarly performing engine, congratulations!.
Oh, btw the EJ2000 and the F119 (Which I was referencing) have a T/W ratio greater than 9, so I'm correct, Zhao.

>>32679251
It's EJ200 and not "EJ2000".

T/W isnt anything special. Using different compressor blades to increase mass-flow will give you more thrust easily. Which is why the Chinese could modify and increase their imported AL-31 thrust as well.

With the new DD6 single crystal blades, the WS-13E can easily be brought up to the standard of the EJ-200 in terms of thrust to weight ratio, by just upping the thrust by 10 kilonewtons more.

China's WS-10s were increased from initial 120kn to 140kn throughout their service life. And that was without changing their basic setup.
>>
>>32679292

>implying using mono crystalline blades (not "single crystal", its about chains, not just one, get your shit together), is about service life, not total thrust.
>>
>>32679304
You increase service life, so that you can safely uprate the thrust.

Usually, you sacrifice service life for thrust.
>>
>>32679315
>Usually, you sacrifice service life for thrust.

No, not for 30 years in the west.

>You increase service life, so that you can safely uprate the thrust.

Thrust is normally hard limited by engine design. Chinese engines disregarded design metrics in their copys and killed their engine life.

You cant turn a TF30 into a F119 just by swapping blades.
>>
>>32679292
>does not even use the superalloy for the demonstration pieces at the bottom of the display

DOUBT.JPG
>>
>>32679320
Well, you actually do.

75-85% of the thrust comes from the fan. You change fan, uprate rpm, increase mass-flow, increase intake size, perhaps even add a low pressure stage to get more air to the HP chambers etc.

In fact, the 90kn of the WS-13E were achieved via these methods - the standard WS-13, in fact, is a mere RD-93 copy, and even that copy had more thrust than the RD-93 by these simple modifications, which increased its weight but gave it more thrust in return (which still increased its T/W ratio compared to the RD-93).

The crown jewel of engine technology always was material science (for the blades and all other parts) and the software for the FADEC.

You need a microspcope to tell.
>>
>>32679385
>Well, you actually do.

No.

>75-85% of the thrust comes from the fan.

No, it comes from the first compression stage. The stage can only handle so much flow due to the other stages.

>The crown jewel of engine technology always was material science.

Material science plays a big part, but its not the entire game. It allows you to design better engines able to output more heat. You can upgrade old ones, but you wont see giant leaps as were claimed.
>>
>>32679403

Normally, yes, if you are not using pot metal, as the display is.

Spoilers, you can see the big ole grains
>>
>>32679315
I sorry anon, you just proved his point.

>You increase service life, so that you can safely uprate the thrust.

Usually, you sacrifice service life for thrust.

If you are reducing service life below the western counterpart to increase thrust, then you cannot compare that to the thrust reported for the western engines.

Lets take a hypothetical example: EJ 200 has service life of 6000 hrs with a T:W of 9.0, whereas WS-13E has service life of 2000 hrs with a T:W of 8.2 BY your logic above we should not be comparing the T:W of 9.0 to 8.2, but rather the T:W when the EJ200 reduces its service life to 2000 hrs, say T:W of 11. Thus the WS-13E is a much worse engine. Or we can flip this extending the service life of the WS-13E to 6000 hrs, dropping the T:W to 6.5 and then compare. Either way the WS-13E is much worse than the EJ200.

All this Chinese shitposting. I think I'm just going to put these here:

They just mastered the material science necessary to produce standard ballpoint pens. Seriously. Its quite safe to say their material science capabilities are extremely limited and 30-50 years behind the rest of the world.

so it has a pretty good chance against the F-35

Isn't the most advanced afterburning turbofan engine China can reliably produce just a copy of the Rolls Royce Spey?
>>
>>32678556
They had way less R&D costs, two engines, no retarded VTOL variant fucking up the project scope.

I'd say it's an amazing deal for China.

>>32682879
Doubtful. While they are way, WAY behind the curve on engines what they have now is more than enough to power the J-31.

China has the extreme advantage of being late adopters of tech and an even bigger advantage in the fact that they can hack their biggest global competitor with ZERO repercussions.
