Not really. Lockmart lobbyists actually have a solid case for seeing it through at this point. Not only do we already have a massive sunk cost invested into it, but now that it's approaching full-rate production, the price tag has dropped to very competitive levels - on par with a Eurofighter or similar, while also offering dramatically better capability in most respects. At this point, buying F-35s over the alternatives is a no-brainer. Starting the death spiral five years ago would have been foolish, but starting it now is full fucking retard.
