Why did us special forces choose glock over sig or hk?
>>
>>32670862
>Cheap
>requires less training, they have enough shit to train on
>known for being esspecially reliable
>No need for the safety aspect added by double action pistols or safetys
>About as light as they come

And i dont even like glocks. Wait for the glock fags to show up. It was an intelligent choice on the sf communities part.
>>
>>32670862
-compact
-incredibly reliable
-simple controls

Dudes were carrying 19s in the field long before JSOC approved them. JSOC/USSOCOM is how big military wishes it could operate. Pretty much happened like this:

-Here's your issued kit
>okay
-Guys carry G19s and G17s into the field
-Brass recognizes this eventually
>Hey why don't you guys carry your issued sidearm
>We like this better, works for us
>Okay
-Glocks get approved/added to official issue
>>
>>32670895

I thought spec ops used 1911s cocked and locked, it would be more training going to glocks
>>
>>32670907
If only it worked like this everywhere.
>>
>>32670923
Disabling a safety is a training thing. And the fucks the point of holsters with retention for a weapon you might have to draw quickly to save your life. Personally if i was sf id carry sumn cool and snowflake like a 57 or usp. But then again thats prolly why my dumb ass didnt even try to go to marsoc.
>>
>>32670956
Mistyped second sentence. Safety+retention holster isnredundant for actual professionals.

Exactly this.

SF types are dealing with this shit day in and day out and constantly looking for ways to do things better.. Some of it comes down to personal preference, and some of it comes down to raw effectiveness, but in the end it just comes down to what works the best. Occasionally the Big Army looks in and sees that a bunch of SF dudes are doing something differently and says "hey, maybe there's something to this", looks at what they're doing and why, and eventually it filters it down the chain to the rest of the branch.
>>
>>32670895
I hate glocks too. Every one I have ever shot has felt like a toy, has had shit ergonomics. Yet I shoot good groups with them and they have a reputation for being reliable.

I wont for a minute try to say they are bad guns.
>>
>>32670862
easy to buy, easy throw away after riding it hard; govt shouldn't be buying good guns it should be buying cheap "good enough" guns. standing armies only succeed on supply, on quantity and not quality. sf is no exception.
>>
>>32670907
If the rest of the military worked like that, I would have fucking joined right out of high school. That kind of administrative bullshit is the thing that dissuaded me.

Because they work
>inb4 H&K/SIG fags who overpaid and are now salty as fuck
>>
>>32670862
Other than everyone I know in the military hating HK, Glock is simply cheaper and having the same or better track record. Is this SIG bait?
>>
>>32670862

i treat my glock 19 like a romanian whore

1000 rounds of steelcase garbage, zero malfunctions besides dud primers

it is definitely a gun for non-stop warfare
>>
>>32674184
why does the military hate hk?
>>
>>32674279
they submitted the 416 as a recommended weapon to replace the M4 in the military but forgot to mention that the magazine specs were naziland specs and standard american spec mags wouldn't function with it.
>>
>>32674279
Their opinion was of the usp's so outdated opinion. They did however hate the reliability.
>>
Why does nobody like Walthers?

>years later this meme is still around
the problem was only with PMAGs because magpul added shit that isn't present on STANAG mags, they changed this with Gen3 PMAGs plus EMAGs work in the 416 as well. Literally every other mag that adheres to STANAG specs works fine in the original 416 magwell, case and point CAG using lancer mags.

those lancers aren't for actual operational use, they're training only mags for use with 5.56mm simunitions.

they issue normal Okay Ind. USGI mags for actual combat use but obviously they're not going to stop a guy from bringing in his PMAGs.

>>32674885
yeah i noticed the blue bolt and base plate, my point was that original 416's will fit a variety of mags. neat pic, i haven't actually seen a training lancer up close until now.
>>
>>32674885
>blue translucent lancer
oh my god where can I get one?!
>>
>>32674279

too much reliability means less kickbacks in the procurement process.
>>
>>32675041
don't think they sell them normally, they probably only make them for agency orders

they also are designed to not accept live rounds, so they're paperweights unless you somehow got hold of a simunitions bolt
>>
>>32674885
>>32674988
On the topic of simunition, where can a regular guy like me get simunition stuff?
>>
>>32675128
eh, would still be cool to have one. ty for the info.
>>
>>32675176
Simunition (the company) is extremely gay and won't sell regular joes their conversion kits. So you have to be Mil, LE, or an "instructor" to get one.

UTM is marginally less gay and will sell you the conversion bolt and non-marking training rounds but not the force-on-force marking rounds, those you have to be Mil, LE, or an "instructor" to get.
>>
>>32674319
The issue with 416s was weight and the fact that an updated AR15 platform wasn't really worth the cost logistically to replace M4s
>>
>>32675262
Hm, interesting.

Thanks for the info I guess. Would I maybe have better luck with an "authorized dealer" for either of those?
>>
>>32670907
>>32670937
>>32671056
>>32674036
so basically what you want is free market, fully privatized national security
>>
>>32674279
Because HK hates you.
And you suck.
(If you are newfag, don't be sad, it's a meme)
>>
>>32675320
If I got to stop paying federal taxes and my state government weren't a bankrupt corrupt shithole, sure
>>
>>32675293
Most likely not, part of being an authorized dealer is having to follow their silly policies. Best thing to do if you want to try force on force is try to find some training place where they'll loan you a UTM bolt and sell you the rounds you need to train.
>>
>>32675381
Dammit, well thanks for the info.

Back to the hunt.
>>
>>32674988
holy shit where do I get that handguard?
>>
>>32675526
its a lancer handguard iirc
>>
>>32670862
The real question is why did they picked it over FN.

Fanboyism probably.
>>
>>32670862
>lightweight
>can double as a duty gun and a conceal carry gun

That's it. That is literally it.

These dumb fucks are WRONG
>>32670895
>>32670907
>>
>>32670862
I'm not even a fan of glocks, but you have to admit they are one of the most reliable piatols out there...can malfuntions happen, sure, but generally speaking you can buy a glock and go strat to the range and shoot it, not clean it and go shooting again a year later and it will work.
>>
I don't personally like Glocks that much, but they're light, reliable, and easy to use. They're great guns, just not really my speed.

>>
>>32670923
Delta fell for the .40 meme, so after a short-lived attempt to field an STI double stack to keep with the 1911 thing they went for the Glock 22.
>>
>>32677075
I thought everybody was carrying 19s?
>>
>>32670862
>reliable
>cheap
>easy to field strip
>easily concealable
>>
>>32679776
Not CAG. They do have some 9mms (inc 19s) but they issue .40 to everyone
>>
>>32682300
And you know this how? Pretty sure those guys can get their hands on and carry just about whatever the fuck suits their mission/needs/feels.

If we're going by photographic evidence alone, those guys have been pictured carrying 1911s, M9s, G19s, G22s, HK45s, USPs, G17s and more in the last decade or so.
>>
Is concealability really that important for the military?
>>
>>32671323
Same 100%, but when I say it I get fags like ditch bitch go on a tangent about 1911's or whatever happened to trigger them in my statement.
