Here's what I said about my thoughts last night, pretty late in the thread:
Inb4 "CTR" because I'm probably going to trigger some people.

I be view the NRA as a necessary evil, currently they are engaged in expanding and preserving gun rights, ad are one of the only groups that do this. However, it is not hard to see the motivation behind this. They are promoting these gun rights because the increased political eye on firearms has threatened gun sales. With more gun control comes less gun sales, which means less profit. I do believe they will fight gun control tooth and nail... if it ensures a monetary benefit.
I do think the NRA protects gun rights, but not for the reason that most either believe or wish to believe.
>>
Something that old people care about.

I rather spend my money supporting manufacturers and facilities.
>>
>>32669950
Everything revolves around money dude. Want to change it? Go become a politician. My bet is you become greedy, too.

I don't care the NRA or aka the gun lobby has it's hands in politicians pockets. The Democrats are complete hypocrites. How much self respect and logic are they going to give up for some of Bloombergs money?

I'm glad the gun lobby is around. I'm glad their trying to use their money to change shit. I don't care if they buy people off. Not doing so means our rights go bye bye because the democucks are pushing some serious anti gun funding and are just as guilty. The gun lobby is great.

Organizationally there encumbered by old thinking and are very slow to adapt to modern ideas on gun ownership- namely the explosion of AR-15 owners and the decline of the "cowboy/rancher" types they courted decades ago.

Given it a decade or so when the last of the old guard dies off and we might have a proper leadership structure dedicated to rolling back Hughes, but I wouldn't hold my breath until then.

No one will be the man Heston was.

I support any organization that triggers campus libs as much as they do.
>>
>>32668081
Fuck them. Support another organization who never threw gun owners under the bus unless they were fudds.

Am I the only one who joined for the $10 duffel bag during their promo thing?
>>
>>32668081
They don't do much as far as state rights go.
Still bought a 5 year membership recently since I really really really fucking want the hearing protection act to pass.
>>
>>32670403
is that really a promo thing? the last 3 guns I bought had some postcard in the box with a "join now and get this free range bag" shit
>>
>>32668081
>Blames shootings on video games and TV
>La Pierre actually implied gun owners were going to become like Jews in Nazi Germany
>Shit themselves all over with Castille
>Does stuff if it's convenient
>huh durr rifles and scattergats

Sadly they're the most effective pro-gun group, otherwise I'd just go with others.
>>
>>32670910
>Blames shootings on video games and TV
I actually forgot that.
>>
Fudds
>>
By their sheer size alone, they are the most important gun-rights group. Ask a liberal what group is the gun lobby and they say NRA, not GoA or 2AF. For that reason alone I joined just to add another +1 to the membership total.

Do I wish they would focus on taking down state infringements, yes I do. I also wish they wouldn't spend money/political power on the hearing protection act but they do.
>>
>>32670403
> I joined because cheap

They need to sell these on the store.
>>
>>32670403

How do you like the bag anon, i'm finna join to get one but I prefer the look of the black bag with yellow lettering. Thinking of putting velcro on it for my meme patches and making it my "Happening bag"
>>

>Fuck them. Support another organization who never threw gun owners under the bus unless they were fudds.
when did they do this?
>>
>>32672750
NFA, GCA, 89 'assault weapons' import ban, Brady Bill, etc.
>>
>>32668081
I like to get something for my money

not a stupid magazine
>>
>>32671433
Why the fuck don't you support the HPA?
>>
>>32673681
Because it should be the NFA Elimination Act.

I'll start supporting them when they start fighting the Bush/Clinton import bans.

Until then, they can fuck off.

>GCA
Anyone behind any support of these is long-dead.
>89 'assault weapons' import ban
The one they had nothing to do with and actively fought to repeal?
>Brady Bill
What the fuck are you smoking? They spent millions fighting against it, throwing such a shitfit that they made the five-day waiting period get tossed to the trashpile and replaced with the instant computerized approval we all know today. Then, after it passed, they filed a dozen lawsuits throughout the US and made Printz vs. US a thing in SCOTUS, which established a large part of the Brady Bill as unconstitutional.

On top of that, you ignore the entirety of the NRA-ILA and what it does, the fact they were the only reason the '94 AWB had a sunset clause to begin with, and how hard they fought against Obama's grabbing attempts.

Go fuck yourself you Hillary slut.

Apparently they ban people from voicing dissent about the hughes amendment: from the Repeal The Hughes Amendment page: " Repeal the Hughes Amendment
6 hrs ยท

Once again, I wish to remind everyone of something important. The NRA is not a true gun rights organization! The latest example is something that happened today... They posted about suppressors. Myself and others commented on how the NFA should be repealed. I also commented on how they have protected the NFA and Hughes Amendment so their wealthy members and their playboy machine gun investments are preserved at the expense of our rights. Their response was to remove my post and ban me. They can't have these truths floating around out there, especially when so many "liked" my post. This is very telling! This is why we only support Gun Owners of America and The Heller Foundation."

>>
>>32670165
You're honestly probably right, easier to talk shit about greed when you don't have millions of dollars. The NRA doesn't trigger me or anything, I just choose not to fund them.
An anon did make a good point last night though that their size and fame deflects a lot of flak towards smaller gun rights groups

is it possible to have a thread about the NRA that isn't filled up with BradyBunch and SPLC concern trolls
>>
>>32668081
only large and powerful p2a organization that can get shit done

they need to hurry up and lobby for the repeal of the nfa
>>
>>32672677

I like it. Bit small but it works fine as a range bag for multiple sets of earpro/eyepro, targets, misc range tools, etc
>>
>>32674956
They'd be much more effective just getting silencers and short barrel items off the NFA. New manufacture, transferable machine guns will simply never happen and it's a waste of time to chase after them.

it's way too easy for the liberal propaganda machine to kill any NFA roll back if it has provision for legalizing machine guns
>>
>>32674918

No. The amount of effort concern trolls dedicate to monitoring these threads and trying to steer people away from the NRA should be the only hint you need that the NRA is worth joining.
>>
>>32673681
It's not that I don't support the Hearing Protection Act, I just think the political capital would be better served pushing for nationalized concealed carry (I am well aware that they are already pushing this as well) or preempting state based gun control with federal legislation. Bring the standards across the country to a standard before pushing for more is what I am asking for.

No, that's why they make this thread every other day now and a fucking copypasta had to be made to combat them. You have dipshits like >>32673164 flat out saying they supported the Brady Bill even though Wiki exists. They're hoping to spread doubt among the newbies that have been flocking here and literally coordinate posts from places like r/socialism.
