Haven't owned enough to comment on a bunch, but generally speaking bolt guns are as simple and reliable as you can get, the differences are neglible. Any /k/ommandos wanna confirm/disprove please do

Depends on what you want; general varmint is .223, I'd suggest a .308 or another full size cartagena because you can use it on medium to large game as well as longer distances
