A meeting of British and Japanese ministers on 8 January resulted in the two nations pledging to enter a second phase of discussions regarding the co-development of a new air-to-air missile.
UK defence secretary Michael Fallon and foreign secretary Philip Hammond visited Japanese counterparts – Gen Nakatani and Fumio Kishida, respectively – in early January, which resulted in an agreement for deeper defence equipment and technology co-operation, plus further development of the Joint New Air-to-Air Missile (JNAAM).

I'm a bit excited for this. High-end Japanese sensors on high-end UK missile.
>>
>>32665735

The other reason to be excited is the Rafale-fag tears as they shake with envy, tightly clutching onto their one-way data link Meteors
>>

Will this project go through tho? The brits are pretty much in too deep with China (more than 100 billion dollars annual trade relation and significant nuke deal with China company). The chinks did played an indirect role in Australia submarine deal

Prolly it's better if Japan choose Germany or Sweden instead. Even Israel would be a better choice
>>
>>32665637

Was actually just reading about CAMM. What a godsend of a missile.

>>32666398

Lol what nonsense are you driveling about?
>>
Should be good

>>32666412
I think he's talking about how we're using large Chinese investment to build a nuclear plant and the people in charge who quit after the Brexit vote were desperate for more trade with China
>>
>>32665782
meteor is in service, this isn't even in development.
>>
>>32665782
Why would facts stop them?

>>32665637
Meteor with a JP Seeker. Really didn't know they had any advanced seeker tech, or even much of a domestic industry / MIC.
>>
>>32666432
UK wants Japan's excellent seeker (AESA I think)
Japan wants UK's excellent missile
>>
>>32666428
>this isn't even in development.
Here we go. Full on denial from Rafalefags.
>FURTHER development of the Joint New Air-to-Air Missile (JNAAM).
>>
>>32665637
>missile designed to self-destruct if it exits nation's borders
JUST

Sad!

Lol, at least he didn't go full on retard.

Quote from the link:
“Following the success of the first round of talks on the co-operative research project on the feasibility of a joint new air-to-air missile, the ministers confirmed discussions would move to the second stage,” the UK Ministry of Defence says.

Further development: further talks -there's nothing on the drawingboard yet...

So yes, stay mad.

CUDA competitor?

likely wont be able to beat China's PL-21 AABM.
>>
>>32667455

But that's a lie.

>The project is understood to be supported by a successfully conducted project to integrate Japanese seeker technologies into MBDA’s Meteor Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile, IHS Jane’s has reported.

Dunno, CUDA from what I'm reading is defensive, not offensive.

Except this IS a Meteor, you bellend. It's an upgraded variant of Meteor with a new seeker that ALSO already pretty much exists.

So yes, it's very far down development in that the base missile for it is already in service and the seeker is in existence.

Not that it'd even need to be in service. The STANDARD Meteor already outperforms the monkey model Rafale variant of it. (Which ISN'T in service, only the Gripen's standard one is.)
>>
>>32665637

MBDA wants that Japanese AESA seeker w/o doing that shit themselves. And the Japanese would like a ramrocket lifting body missile w/o spending their own money to do the same shit other fuckers already done.

No word if the US is really srs about something that has longer range than the AIM-120D (and being serious means actually spending money to procure a Longer Ranged AAM)
>>
High time for Japan.

It looks like China already has their's in service for some time:
