How would i remove this peice of red plastic on a spent .410 shell, leaving the brass intact?

>Have 100+ empty .410shells

>Want to make a super light load wildcat catrterige out ofthe brass for a custom rifle
>>
Selfbumb cuz i really want to do this, and using plyers dont work
>>
>>32661556
Melt it off?
>>
>>32661753
Wouldnt the brass deform?
>>
>>32661681
Let's see... Is there a way to remove plastic from metal reliably? Hmm...
>>
Op here
I feel genuinely stoopid
>>
>>32661556
>556
acetate should work, if nothing else you could probably scrape it off
>>
>>32661556
burn it off with a blowtorch OP
>>
>>32661760
>Brass melting point: 900-940 C
>Plastic melting point: 170 C
>>
>>32661556
I'm interested in this, what's your idea?
>>
Gasoline maybe? Maybe it'll dissolve it?
>>
>>32662054
Gonna remove the plastic, figure put what size bullet fots, make a reamer so i can make a casting die for it, then make a rifle akin to a remington rolling block to shoot these little bastards
>>
>>32661556
Just cut/melt it off ya goof
>>
>>32662156

That sounds real neato, please keep us posted
>>
>>32661556
acetone can melt plastic well.
>>
>>32662366
Will do

Here you go.
>>
>>32661556
Just throw it in the campfire dingus. OP confirmed cucked city dweller that never goes inawoods.
>>
Op here
Need a legalfag
If i use a smoothbore barrel over 18inches, for the prototype, would that be legal?
then it would just be like shoving .45lc in a .410, right?
Certanly not an sbr or sbs, but would it constitute as an aow?
Just asking cuz i want to keep my doggo away from atf
>>
>>32662550
Op does go innawoods
Thats how ive accumulated the ammo
But i do live in the city and visit my family in the country regulary
>>
>>32662556
Needs 18" smooth barrel and 26" OAL to be considered a weapon not subject to NFA regulation.
>>
>>32661837
You should. A good thread died for your retardation
>>
>>32662556
That'd be fine, but given that the bore is under .50 caliber, you could do a rifle as well.
>>
>>32661556
If you can't figure this out youself, theres no way in hell you're making a custom casing and developing a wildcat.
>>
>>32661760
You're gonna have to resize it anyway.
>>
>>32663323
It was the 32,764th "Should I join the French Foreign Legion" thread. Settle down.
>>
>>32661556
Use a rotary tool with a grinding attachment to grind the hard plastic off.
>>
>>32661556

If you have to ask how, you have no business working on firearms, at all. Put the shit away and go back to your xbox.
>>
>>32661556

Why would anybody want a rimmed .45acp?
>>
>>32663956
people like you are the reason why gunsmiths are getting harder to find
>>
>>32664012

Just posting to let you know that is already a thing
>>
>>32664057
>making a wildcat
>suddenly a gunsmith
lel
>>
Crush the plastic with plus near the base
The brass should be fine but crushing the plastic will eventually let it slide out
>>
>>32662918
Listen to this guy. Generaly add more lenght than the minimum in case of corrupt atf fuckery.
>>
>>32664012
To shoot in a .45ACP revolver without having to use clips.

>implying its not common practice to feign ignorance of something just to make a thread on /k/ to get people interested in what you're doing.
>>
>>32667463

> Implying a thread stating "Hey, I'm going to make a miniature rifle out of cutdown 410 shells" wouldn't have gotten a lot more attention
>>
>>32667463
>I was only pretending to be retarded

Next time you make a thread put a little effort towards not being LCD.
>>
>>32661556
You niggers are dumb as fuck. Nearly all shotshell ammunition is brass-plated steel. It will rust. Stop calling it brass.
>>
>>32661556
chemfag here , im pretty sure that the hulls are pet plastic so youll need dcm ( dichloromethane) , if your in burgerland try looking at aquarium supply places ( they use it to make acrylic fish houses )
the DCM will dissolve the plasic but leave the brass intact , heat and agitation will speed up the process but DONT HEAT IT because all the DCM will evaporate and fucl up your ceiling

This.

I own a Colt M1917. You can still use normal .45 ACP, but the extractor star won't grab the rounds if you load them individually, so you'll have to flip the gun up and shake them out, or pull them out.
>>
>>32661556
Heat it
Cut it

You can also use a stick as an ejector if need be.

The autorim brass is pretty sturdy I hear though, so if you're a handloader, you can probably make it last for quite some time.

I've also heard it'll work in a Webley, providing the powder load is appropriate, and the projectile the proper size for the bore.
