I'm no expert on the matter, but even if we did start adopting things like exoskeletons and HMDs for infantry use, I'd expect it would take more than a few months to "phase in" the new gear. Even something as simple to teach and build as rifles have had to be phased in and out over the course of several months, if not years.

The XM25's been in field tests for years, but it's going into official service this year. That's the airburst components you mentioned. As for the ACR, Magpul issued a recall way back in 2010 for their Masada rifle, so that put an end to that.

Advanced rifle - I mean flechette, hyperburst, caseless, all that stuff that makes the rifle futuristic, not just plastic clone of AR18 from 60s.

I'm guessing the adoption of caseless and flechette ammunition would just be a logistical nightmare, partially for the reasons I stated above about needing periods of time to adopt things like that. During that time you'd still have to have a steady supply of the old ammunition *and* the new gear available, which apart from being expensive, would force infantry to carry quite a bit more stock around, and there'd be no end to the groaning about that. It may come, just not as soon as stuff that's easier and cheaper to phase straight in. Practicality isn't just a tactical aspect of a product, there's the practicality of grand scale adoption to keep in mind as well - though I think the AN-94 has limited hyperburst capability, with a quick search on the matter, for what it's worth.
